I'm working on Wednesday and I'm not up for a three day cooking marathon.  I want to shortcut it a bit and order a meal.  I've tried Boston Market in the past but I'm gambling on Harris Teeter this time.  It doesn't include desserts or bread, but I really want to make those myself.  I figure it'll lighten the load enough that I can get everything cooked in one day without a written plan, extra grocery shopping, and tons of time.

Has anyone tried this meal before?  Am I setting myself up for disappointment?  I get that everything is better homemade, but I'm really more invested in the family time than a perfect meal.  Dd and her new husband are choosing to dine with us for this holiday and I'm really more invested in the time together.  It's the first holiday we've potentially had to share our daughter with in-laws so I'm tickled they're coming here.

I know nothing about Harris Teeter, but I support your decision to outsource the meal. The homemade meal is not better in my opinion if the person(s) making it happen is going to be super stressed out and unable to enjoy the time spent together.

My only experience with the HT Thanksgiving meal was many years ago, but it was fine. FWIW, DS25 loves all things from the HT deli. He says their made-to-order subs are better than any of the sub shops.

And I say good for you for prioritizing your own health and enjoyment. I hope you all have a great time.

I did NOT know this about their subs. I’ve never even tried them. I just paid about $12 for a Wegmans sub yesterday and my head almost exploded. I haven’t purchased a pre-made sun since before the pandemic and I got sticker shock at the self checkout.

I actually enjoy the marathon cooking process, but with Wednesday off the table, there’s just no sane way to do it all.  I usually start on Tuesday and break it all up. Dd and Dsil would help if I asked, but they work so hard I’d rather they had a chance to sleep in. I figured this way we’d still have loads of leftovers and Turkey bones for stock.
