Happy day!! Today we are celebrating nature! It's autumn or spring (depending upon where you live) and the changes in trees, flowers, animal activity are wonderful.

How does being in nature make you feel? Is there a particular season you enjoy? What is your favorite outdoor activity?

If you can, get outside today. Take a walk. Go for a bike ride. Or simply go into your yard or garden and enjoy the sights, sounds, and aromas.

Post one of your favorite nature pictures.

I have been waiting for this one - nature!  I am very grateful to be able to live where I can see and interact with nature regularly.

I love autumn best.  The smells and colors of changing/drying leaves, the perfect combination of warm sun and cool air, and the festiveness of the seasonal holidays.

My favorite outdoor activity is probably hiking.  My body is getting too old to really enjoy camping, and I was never super big on water-related pastimes.  Tree climbing at my age is socially frowned upon, LOL.  I might be willing to try rock climbing if I found an opportunity.  🙂

This morning I took the pup for a walk, which included a short romp in the green space down the street.  Later I will probably take him for another walk through our woody, hilly backyard.  I also did most of my yoga outside, so the pup couldn't jump on me during downward dog.  😛

I probably won't get a chance to post a nature photo today, but maybe I'll find something to post on facebook this weekend.

Just one photo? I don't know if I can pick a favorite! I will look for one and think on it.

I admit I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with nature.

I do really like it, but I have quite a fear of insects. I am allergic to fire ants, so I am careful to not wear open toe shoes in any kind of grass here in the south. I tried to take up hiking the summer of 2020, got a tick on me (with no symptoms), and ended up with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever active in my body for months.

I didn't let that stop me this summer, though. Dh and I spent six weeks traveling because we sold our house and couldn't close on the new one. We found several places to hike and see waterfalls. I planned the trip and chose places to stop that would be easier to get to than others. I felt like wider open spaces helped cut down on the tick risks.

I grew up in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and have returned nearby. It's beautiful country, and I know I love it much more than I fear it.

I struggle picking a favorite season. I like something about each one; each has unique opportunities and experiences.

How does being in nature make me feel? At peace. I crave my tree and trail time and need certain amounts in order to feel balanced.

My favorite outdoor activity is probably walking or hiking; it should be tennis but I also play tennis inside and prefer playing inside. I also bike, kayak, and camp. My area is lacking in trails and adequate places for kayaking and I have to drive in order to find places to do those activities. I am grateful I have activities to enjoy outside and the time to do them.

I have too many pics. I love taking pics of fungi and the little bits of nature most people might overlook.  The one I chose to share makes me smile, though. I was kayaking and came across this row of ducks resting on the trunk of a felled tree.

I had a hard time picking but I love these two a lot. The first is a picture I took at a special garden in the north Georgia mountains, Gibbs Gardens. It’s a beautiful over 200 acre garden that the owner developed and still lives in. It’s a favorite place to visit and enjoy the quiet beauty of nature.

The second is a picture my sister took. She has such a knack for photography. This one reminds me me that no matter what darkness I may find myself in, there is light somewhere that leads out of the shadows into a bright,  beautiful world.

Autumn is absolutely my favorite. I sat outside to read and enjoy a sweet treat today. Our red maples are extra lovely this year and our leaves are on late.

I’ll post a picture of one of the trees tomorrow. But here’s one of a frost-edged leaf on the frosty early morning grass in my yard.A2089EA4-E83F-4446-9E90-47576647BD3D.thumb.jpeg.22386a7a3bc50d72eea5128656025482.jpeg

I am with @mom31257. I have a love/hate relationship with nature.

I have issues with camping, hiking, snow, cold, insects, grass, the forest (silence freaks me out), not a mountain person. It goes on and on.

We travel to see animals in the wild but pests inside my house freak me out. So I take steps to prevent them.

Love the ocean. sitting in the sunshine, seeing the stars and walking in the rain.

I am happiest in nature biking in my little city, walking in my suburban neighborhood, sitting in my backyard and  learning about the birds that visit us. I love flowers and even though I have the blackest thumb, I attempt to grow them despite very little success.

I love swimming because I love the feeling of being surrounded by water.

I would love to get a Kayak and someday soon that will be a possibility, hopefully this Christmas.

I have a lot of limitations and enjoy nature in my own way. I am trying to get better at it though.

I am apparently not a nature person because I take pictures of people and buildings.

I love all your pictures though and thanks for sharing.

I love the richness of autumn. Warm sun, cool air. There is a sadness to it that I like somehow.

It’s going to rain today and most of our leaves will come down.

I saw the first dark-eyed Junco of the season today. They don’t show up here til November.
