Calizzy Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 We are taking a family vacation in early January, so for Christmas I want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and give the kids gifts that they will need for vacation. Kids are 13, 11, 8, and 5. Vacation is to Mexico beach. 7hour flight. Any suggestions? 1 Quote
lmrich Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Do they know about the trip? I have gifted trips in creative ways in the past. But if they know - give sunscreen, hats, luggage tags, Spanish - English books, map of the area, beach gear... 1 Quote
matrips Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Travel pillow, swimsuit, flip flops, sunglasses, activity books Quote
Kareni Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 A game or two for the plane. I can recommend Love Letter as light and small and fun. It's one of the game listed in this article: Best Games for traveling Regards, Kareni Quote

Tiffnkids Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 How fun! Luggage or backpack if anyone needs those Travel toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, etc.) in stockings might be fun. Also, gum to chew on the flights for any ear issues. How about doing a pinata instead of or in addition to stockings? That would be fun! 1 Quote
Slache Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 Cameras. They make waterproof disposable cameras now. If they have cameras get photo paper and sticky paper. Souvenir money. Quote
Frances Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 Before we took my son and niece to Hawaii after my husband finished a practicum there, my mom bought them each a nice beach towel and embroidered them with their first names using a sewing machine. My son continued to use his for swimming for many years and now it is our dog’s towel. It has held up remarkably well through much use. Quote
Ali in OR Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 My kids grew up with LLBean duffle bags for their "suitcases" for all trips. They're great for camping, but they always complained about sore shoulders carrying those through airports. So when we went to Hawaii a few years back, they got "roll around travel bags" for Christmas (their term--suitcases on wheels). No more complaining in airports! 2 Quote
Calizzy Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 Does anyone have a suggestion for where to get fun wheeled carry on suitcases? I found some at pottery barn teens, but looking for more options. My kids would love tropical print. Quote

Nardeant Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 How was the trip? I want to go there this year, but I am still unsure about the exact destination. There are so many hotels and other places to stay in. I am traveling with my kids and my wife: where are a family of four. It would be cool to rent a part of a small house for a week there. Somewhere close to the sea. It was easy to do when traveling through Europe because they have websites like https://www.montaregio.de/de/ that help find the best place to stay. It’s even better than Booking because they have the information directly from the locals. Quote
