It took five months, countless in person conversations, eleventy billion remote check-ins, three false starts/broken pledges, and me finally bawling my eyes out on behalf of all of my sibs for him to do it but the first shot is in their arms. Two more to go. 🤞🏽

That's great!  We were finally able to convince a family member to get the shot just recently too.  Several other kind relatives reached out as well to discuss any concerns they had... One of them told me he had enough back and forth text messages about the topic with said person to write a book!  I know they were part of the convincing as well.   Thankfully everyone remained civil throughout.  I sure don't understand why it took so long, but I'm thrilled that it's done!

Can I send you my relatives' contact info?  Please?

I'm still waiting for the light to turn on...

I’m not sure I could replicate the conversation that broke the camels back even if I wanted to. Ugh. I’m still wiped out. I don’t think anyone but me would have been able to convince him to do it. You need someone the family member trusts and respects implicitly and even then it’s an uphill fight.

I was teasing about you contacting my relatives.

I have been trying to get a vulnerable family member to get vaccinated, but she won't even talk about it.  It's really, really frustrating.

I'm so glad that your relatives are getting vaccinated, though!!  It gives me a little bit of hope.

To the bolded, I know. It’s just so so hard, even for a trusted person. My Dad is on full time oxygen thanks to a bout of valley fever and has lived with a major autoimmune condition for over 50 years. I was totally realistic with him (as were his HCPs) both about his prognosis with COVID and the limited benefits of the shots (b/c he’s on high dose steroids) but it was about getting him to TRY, one more time, to be there for us and his grands/great-grands. That he’s doing it, mostly for us, means a lot.
