The battery life on the Samsung Watch 3 is about 2 days, so I sent it back.  (And I never figured out how to see the record of what I've done on  my laptop.  Something I did all the time with my fitbit.)

which means, fitbit.

so - talk to me about sense vs versa 3

Posted (edited)

I have the Versa 3 and really like it. The only thing I can compare it to is the Samsung Gear that I had several years ago, which was my only other experience with a smart watch. At that time Samsung was mostly trying to keep you in their ecosystem so there weren't a lot of apps that worked with it. That might have changed but I didn't want to get another Samsung watch even though I'm a huge fan of Samsung phones.

I love my Versa 3. I did have some battery life issues after the last firmware update but it seems to have worked itself out. I only had mine since January so if the battery issue didn't resolve I was going to contact them.

My friend used to have an Apple watch but switched to Fitbit and chose the Sense. She wanted all the health stuff. I find I get enough of that with the Versa 3 and there's even a watch face that will do SpO2. I don't often wear my watch to bed so I don't feel the need for it really.

I think it comes down to the health sensors you want. If you want all the health bells and whistles get the Sense. If not the Versa 3 is really the same watch in all other respects.

It does annoy me a bit that Fitbit doesn't work with Google Fit, especially since Google bought Fitbit. That might change but for now there's a workaround if you really want the two to "talk" to each other.

I had old fitbits - so the watch3 was a huge update.  I couldn't figure out how to see data on my laptop - which I could always do with the fitbit, and add/delete alarms etc from my laptop or phone.   That was a big thing I had against the watch3.

do you look at data from your versa3 on your laptop?  (I almost bought one today at costco.) or are you only able to see data on your phone?

I've never used google fit - so I'm unfamiliar with it.

Yes, I'm able to see data on both my laptop and the app on my phone. The laptop site is more detailed than the app. In the settings I can see my personal info as well as the apps I've allowed to connect to the watch. From the dashboard I see all my recent health data that I told it I want to see. I can also log activities, food, etc.

I can only change clock faces from the app.

Re: alarms

You're supposed to be able to set alarms from your account on the website but I don't see it. I always set my alarm from my watch so I haven't needed that function.

If this makes sense to you as someone who had a fitbit before, it's from the Help section:

fitbit.com dashboard

  1. From the fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon gear%20icon%20web.png then your device image.
  2. Under Silent Alarms, click Add Alarm.
  3. Select the alarm time and frequency. Be sure to enter the alarm time in the format HH:MM.
  4. Click Save. If the entry box turns red, you may have entered your alarm time in an incorrect format. Be sure you include a colon between hours and minutes.
  5. Click the Fitbit Connect icon fitbit%20connect%20icon.png then Sync Now.

The Fitbit Sense requires a subscription to see all the data available.  $10 per month/$80 per years. absurd.

now I'm looking at the Charge 5 . . . .
