Good morning!

We see the orthopedic surgeon today. I am hoping and praying this will be an easy procedure and quick recovery.  Dh is really stressed. This new job is overwhelming with so many more demands and coaching on top of all that. Now this.

  • dh's breakfast
  • tried to go back to sleep and couldn't
  • write scripture/devotion
  • breakfast for me
  • pay bills/update checking records
  • pick up dh this morning and take him to the ortho
  • lunch out
  • take him back to school if we're back before it's over
  • hope that the event tonight is rained out so dh can come home and rest
  • possibly drive up to the event if it still happens (corn maze/bonfire)
  • start getting house ready for sister coming tomorrow (tidy and clean)

My grandson was born a short while ago.  He is late premature and is 5lbs, 12 oz.  and 18.5 inches long- so yes, smaller than all mine were.  Mine were all 6lbs. something so I am very used to small babies.  He is in NICU at the moment but they expect to release him from that shortly.

Help in whatever way we can- including with the granddaughters going to school and back-maybe?  They go to school in the county because of their father, dsil'a ex, having control of schooling.

Call Subaru and see about getting a loaner car, and if not, get Enterprise rental

Drop off my car---- my car's 12v cigarette lighter-which we use as a phone charger and another 12v non lighter but charger are both not functioning.  And I am very unsure how long that repair will take

Not sure what else

@TravelingChris, what wonderful news! Congratulations!!

@ScoutTN, thank you. I realize I made that sound like he has a procedure today, but it's just the consult to find out what procedure and when.

I finished the rest of the goody bags.

I'm about to get my shower and get dressed. I pick dh up at school at 9:55.

Prepped some stuff for the 5 yr old; I really need to talk with the family and see about dropping this out of my schedule; they don't need me for this anymore, really, and it's becoming more of a chore than worth it, to keep coming up with additional stuff to teach her on top of stuff we do in class.  (I mean, it's good  money, but......I'm tired.....)

Grabbing a bite, and my bag, and running out to do that

Howdy, happy Friday!

I guess technically it's not a client due date since October 31 is on a Sunday, which normally means the due date becomes November 1.  But I'd still like to complete several reports that are due October 30 or 31.

The maids are supposedly coming today at 2:30.  I'm having maid prep fatigue, since they haven't actually come for a full cleaning in about 2 months, despite many times they said they were coming.  I guess I should clean the house anyway though, right?

I woke up with a stiff neck.  Thought about trying for a chiro appointment, but decided it wasn't realistic with deadlines & house cleaning.  I do need to get an adjustment soon, though.

Done:

  • Kids to school barely on time again.  It was another close one.  Thankful for the weekend without 7:50am arrival times.
  • Pup duty.
  • House cleaning.
  • Caught up on emails, news, calendar, social media, and electronic school stuff.  Downloaded kids' Q1 report cards.  Kid1 got highest honors, which is great for her.  Also this is the first time I realized that they get 0.25 credit for "auxiliary" marching band?
  • A few small personal tasks.
  • A little client work.
  • Working on coffee 3.

To do:

  • Client work.
  • More prep for the maids - mainly picking up dirty clothes from the kids' bathroom, and later straightening up my bedroom ... if they show up.
  • Pick up the kids after school.  I don't think we have any special plans for this evening.
  • Manage the pup if the maids come.  He needs to learn how to be OK with them in the house.  Not sure how much of an adventure this will be.
  • Try to make some exercise and reading happen somewhere in there.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Looking for my own internship since someone "important" at my college blew me off after two people forwarded my email to them. This person blew me off w/o even responding to me before they got the other two emails. Le sigh.

Update on dh:

Dh doesn't need surgery! They find results are just as good with casting the finger for 6 weeks and letting it scar over. The tendon on top of the finger is completely off. He'll have to return weekly to have it recast because they always loosen up since it's just over the joint. No activity for 6 weeks where he could take a blow to the hand, so we're not sure how he is going to be much help at practice. And he'll miss a practice every week going to have it recast. And he'll have therapy to stretch out the scar tissue after the cast is off.

We found a delicious Mediterranean restaurant very close by to the office, so we won't mind going weekly! Dh said it was the best gyro he's ever had, and he's had them all the way to Chicago here in the US and even in Israel. The hummus was the best I've had. It's my favorite kind of food!

Ran errands with DH

Took another nap, feeling blah from allergies (we had super high winds yesterday which blew in crazy high levels of assorted normally over by now pollens....), woke up, feel a bit better.

Did some more K prep and think I'm going to pause and work on it on the weekend

Going up to start laundry, though, cause people do need clean clothes

Also remembered my weekend will need to include 2nd Grade prep, too, b/c on Tues I have to go see my mom (normal 2nd grade prep day) (well, if I'm very industrious, I can do some before I go down.....)

@TheReader, feel better soon!

More good news! The event tonight is cancelled, so dh just got home and can rest this evening. He had very little sleep last night.

I paid bills and updated my checking records.

I finished Labyrinth on Amazon. Loved this mini-series.

Mom’s small party was a success! I was worried at first bc no one came on time. But 5 friends from her church fellowship group came and 2 zoomed in. Plus me, Dh and Dd. And three extended family members on Zoom. Mom got many cards in the mail all week, plus a few small gifts, and two rounds of balloons, cake n ice cream and “happy birthday”.

Made chx stir fry and potstickers for dinner. Kitchen is tidy. Making vanilla tea and about to read.

Parent-teacher conference was good. Ds is thriving in school.

@BlsdMama Good to *see* you here today!

@DawnM Hope you are better soon!

Well, the pup did reasonably well with the maids being here noisily touching/moving everything for 4.5 hours.  I didn't trust him to be loose where he could get at them, but I was able to manage it so he wasn't isolated & had a chance to run around.  He was pretty nervous at first, then mostly relaxed, and it even seemed like he was sad to see them leave.  Afterwards he did a forensic investigation of every area they had been in, LOL.

As for me, I am spent.  I just hope the maids get back to coming regularly, because he needs to get used to them.

We didn't really do dinner tonight.  The kids went down and scavenged while I took an opportunity to lie down.  I have eaten a ton of tortilla chips today and I think that's about it.  When am I gonna get back on a health kick?  I did go for a walk with the pup ... and cleaned some, which I count as a bit of exercise.

Tonight I'm grateful for the fall.  (Is this a repeat?)  I just love the colors, the crispness, the smells, the festiveness.  The perfect combination of a gentle cool breeze and gentle warm sunshine at the same time.  It awakens so many things in me that sleep through other seasons.
