Good morning! Terrible blood sugar number this morning, but I’ve no clue why. Took meds, made b’fast and coffee.

Ds says he has a sore throat, so he’s staying home. Ugh. Texted his school.

Dh took the milk cooler, so I don’t have to do that errand.

To do:

Tutor two students and log sessions.

YNAB ✔️

Prep church lesson

Dd to piano and church.

@TexasProud Praying for you this morning.

@ScoutTN, I'm so sorry about the accident and your ds! Praying all goes well and you can have your vehicle repaired quickly!

@MooCow, is this a weekly favorite, or particularly tonight because of extra trash this week?

3 Zoom sessions are done

breakfast and lunch are done

considering going to get a rotisserie chicken for dinner, just don't know what to have with it yet

Howdie, happy Wednesday!

I'm so glad, I will have the house to myself for a chunk of today.  Really not a long enough chunk, but better than nothing.  The boss lady is out of town until Friday evening.  This is the first time since before Covid.  Back then I'd be all "the cat's away, the mice can play," but now I have a pup to supervise whenever I'm home.  Still, at least I can play on the internet without being observed.

My pup tends to lie around and nap when we're home alone together.  Which is great, but when will I ever get to tinker with playing music again?  I hate to disturb him.

Done:

  • Got up on time, yay!  I got about 7 hours of sleep because I went to bed early-ish for me.
  • Gathered and took out the garbage.  Had to deal with an overstuffed bag of smelly food garbage that broke.  Why don't people think?  Probably because they've never had to clean up after the results.  😕
  • Drove the kids to school.  Got there a tiny bit early again, yay!  Still perfect attendance for Q2 (3 whole days).
  • Dropped a china plate which I was removing from my car.  Spent time making sure I found and cleaned up all the pieces from the driveway (including under my car).  Oh well, one less dish to wash ... and I will count that as yoga stretching.
  • Washed the kitchen garbage bin.
  • Tried to take the pup for a walk, but he wanted to play tug with the leash, so I ended the walk.  Performed other morning pup duties.
  • A little client work.
  • Downloaded a bunch of certificates from trainings that my kids & I have done recently.
  • Emailed the CERT lady.
  • Placed Amazon orders and did a few other quick personal tasks.
  • Caught up on emails, news, calendar, social media, and electronic school stuff.
  • Finished coffee 1.

To do:

  • More client work and pup duty.
  • Pay some bills.
  • Exercise and reading.
  • Pick up kids after tutoring.  Make them do homework early.
  • Kids have their annual band "spooktacular."  Before leaving, they will get themselves costumed and made up like zombie clowns.  This is one of their favorite activities of the year.  I hope I get some photos / video.
    • Note to self 1:  Wear about 11 layers and bring a blanket to sit on.
    • Note to self 2:  Bring can of food to donate as admission price.
    • Note to self 3:  Also bring cash for concessions.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Should I do some "maid" type cleaning while the house is relatively less cluttered, or trust the maids' commitment to come on Friday afternoon?  On one hand, I really don't have time for it in the middle of the week, and my body is still sore from the fall I took on Sunday.  On the other hand, I rather enjoy cleaning when nobody else is home, and the feeling of satisfaction it brings.  I guess I'll do it if I feel like it, and won't if I don't.

Well, the back of my car is pretty smooshed. Cannot open it. In a couple days, when the police report is available online, I'll get the wheels rolling on an insurance claim.

Got home, ate lunch, had a shower.
Quick trip to the library and the grocery.
Took out the trash
Unloaded the dishwasher
Contacted a prospective AHG member.
Reminded Dd to do math.
Organized my lesson materials for tonight.
Cancelled Ds' piano lesson.
Cooked a take n bake pizza for the boy's dinner.

Mom Victory! Not-techy me figured out how ds has been beating the parental control software which limits his computer time and gaming. He got mad when I demonstrated that I know by thwarting his plans, so I know I am right.

Well don't you love friends who share all their stress with you?  That's what friends are for, right?

This one just texted me to say she left her laptop on the plane she disembarked some time ago.

I would probably have done the same thing though ....  (I mean the text, not leaving the laptop, though who knows ....)

Turns out that my surgeon decided to do the appt and told me to throw away the papers about what to do after the surgery.  He said that he was a resident in Denver and one of the hospitals he worked at was Denver General.  They got a lot of homeless coming in.  If they needed spinal surgery, that was his specialty.  They were discharged to the curb=these were homeless that did not want to live inside.  They were told to come back in a month and they would actually return in a few months- like 3 or 4.  They would come back with filthy original bandages still on.  And when the doctors would remove the bandages, they were healed just fine.  He told me to listen to my body and don't worry about stuff about whether I am lifting 1/2 a pound or whatever.  His query is had anyone done any studies to prove that you should carry x lbs at this point or other or you have to sleep on a firm mattress= I don't sleep on a mattresses that sinks down but I do have a soft mattress topper on top of a firm mattress to lessen the pain of my joints so I can sleep.  He did give me the advice I needed that I should wear the back brace for 6 to 8 hours a day maximum.

Quarantine book club was great

Getting my new perm was not as fun since it stunk but I do like the perm and should be so much easier to manage my hair with the surgery.

Then I did calling=had a very unpleasant conversation with a nurse who is an idiotic stickler for rules and procedures. I had called needing to get a new prescription for blood thinning shots I would need before my surgery and afterwards because my current supply is expiring this month.  I can't use the more commonly used shots because I am allergic to them.  She wants me to wait to get that prescription until my appt there which is three days before I am supposed to start using them.  Well with the shipping issues all over the country and the fact that the one pharmacy in town that does sometimes have them but usually not a full box of 10, and has to order some for me, plus my dh is driving me around to enough medical appts that I would like to combine a trip to that pharmacy to when he is nearby for another reason.  I hung up after telling her I would have my concierge primary care put in the prescription.  He is back on Monday.

And then I had the fun of finding out the hospital has never billed the secondary insurance for the 1500.  I found out from the supplemental that I can file the claim myself and I will fax it tomorrow.

Finally in the bureaucratic garbage, the Home Health Agency said that they were following new guidelines by Medicare in how they billed Tricare and I explained that the claims person I spoke to who did sound completely reasonable said that they need to bill everything at once- not the way they thought which is to bill only the first day and the last day which sounds moronic to me and I can\t believe that Medicare would do that because how would they get paid for all the other visits???

My husband made a tasty stir fry and I ate in while attending Chronic Illness Support Group

Now to watch Parasite with dh

Church was meh. Kids in my class were badly behaved tonight.

Came home to find that Ds has burned popcorn and the whole house stinks. Showed him how to cook popcorn on the stove.
He really does have a cold, so he’ll be home tomorrow too.

Next up: snack and a book.

@ScoutTN, go, Tech Mom!

@SKL, sorry you have to be out in the cold and about your friend's laptop! Hope they get it back easily.

@TravelingChris, it's good to have a helpful doctor with common sense!

My afternoon didn't go quite as planned. I was at the store getting the chicken (so glad I planned that) when dh called me saying he may have broken his finger at practice. He went to an walk in place near by, so I took the groceries home and went there. He hadn't been seen yet because this should be worker's comp. He was waiting to hear how to handle it. He could have gone to the ER but it isn't an ER situation. He will file paperwork tomorrow and go after that. He's been icing it and I wrapped it.

Dh insisted I still go visit the class at church, so I did after I got him dinner and settled. I really liked it.

Well my friend got her laptop back.  This is how her whole life goes.  So distracted and yet so lucky.  The number of things that she's left behind and gotten back would blow your mind.  Purses, expensive electronics, phones, and everything else.  Despite her lucky record, it is still always a panic when she loses yet another important item.

The SPOOKtacular was fun, and mercifully short (under an hour of performance).  I tried to get some good photos, but by the time the kids were cooperating (after the show), the makeup had smeared and stuff.  So the photos I got are not really shareable.  In person, though, the costumes looked great.  🙂

I put the pup to bed early since I am not feeling super.  I have some sinus thing, not sure whether it's allergies or a bug.  It doesn't really feel like a bug, but someone else said she was feeling off too, so maybe it is.

Ordered flowers for my folks' 60th anniversary tomorrow.  I am not sure whether or not I'll be able to visit them, and even if I do, it won't be on the day.  They will be surprised since I don't think I ever sent them flowers before.  I also included a box of chocolates, which I probably should not have done (kuz who needs more sugar), but oh well.

Well anyhoo ... I should probably think about my daily gratitude in case I fall asleep soon.

Today I'm grateful for creativity, humor, and laughter.  It really is the best medicine.
