Have to share: cool idea if you have a somewhat incapacitated senior

My mom and I were never close. But she now has Alzheimer's and seems to have forgotten that I wasn't her favorite. 🙃

Anyhoo, she LOVES getting cards for her birthday, for any holiday, she loves her cards.

Last Christmas my mom told my dad, "we have to send Christmas cards out, if we don't we won't get many in return."

They're in San Francisco and I'm in Atlanta.

So I've asked my dad to send the many friends' and family addresses to me (in Atlanta). I'm picking out a Christmas card and getting his approval. Then I'll just sign their names.

Then right after Thanksgiving out they go!!

If my dad okays it, I'll include a little note saying she'd love a phone call to her friends who know.

My parents are also in SF.  If you ever need care facility suggestions I know of some as my mom has had several stays due to falls in the last 5 years.

They're in the East Bay: Moraga next to Orinda. They've had a home picked out smack in the middle of Moraga.

But thank, that's so nice of you,

I'm so sorry about your mom. Falls are a huge deal.

They were bad.  After the second one she is stuck on the second floor.  I find that terrifying, but they don’t want to move into assisted living.

I do know Moraga a bit—DD used to take piano lessons from a Serbian lady up there.  It was quite a drive for us from San Jose but this lady was awesome.

If you feel comfortable sharing the name of that home there, I’d appreciate it.  It’s always good to more than one plan.  Right now I only know of one rehab place and 3 assisted living places that are even options for them in SF.

Very nice!

For my folks 50th anniversary I took their address book and sent their anniversary announcement out with a 'toast' from us girls.

They ended up getting some cards and some calls.  Even a couple gifts.  They weren't getting out much back then.

I'll talk to my dad and get back to you!
