lynn
My fil is Catholic he's been getting more devout the past few years. We are trying to come up with a Christmas gift for him. Is there a charity organization or some type of Catholic website we can make a donation in his name or purchase something meaningful for him. He gave me and has purchased several rosewood rosary beads from a mission. Is there anything like that or what can you recommend. Thanks. Parrothead
http://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=1174 is a place that you can donate in his name. If you search for "Catholic gifts" you will get lots of hits for online stores that sell religious gifts for Catholics. I've never bought from any particular online Catholic store though. Hopefully someone else can chime in for reputable gift stores. Also check locally. If you are in a large enough area, there may be a local Catholic gift store or book store. Momto5
Catholic Charities is a wonderful reputable organization serving individuals and families in need. The national organization is Catholic Charities USA but there are also many local branches, perhaps there may be one in your fil's area. I think he would be honored that you took his beliefs into consideration in selecting a gift for him. How very thoughtful of you.
clwcain
Any of the better religious orders or a good Benedictine monastery would be better than the bloated behemoth that is Catholic Charities, IMHO. Among my favorites: Clear Creek Monks Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles Carmelites in Wyoming Good books may be found here, here, or here if you want to send to him an item.
