Fever, headache, and cough over the weekend. Felt better this morning but a friend texted that she tested positive yesterday. We were together last Tuesday so I got a rapid. That was a faint positive so I did a PCR. Should hear back in a day or so.

I doubt it was from the wedding as that was three weeks ago. More likely from our Tuesday co-op.

DIL's dad is still in the hospital. A few days ago they said he was in what they call Covid purgatory. Waiting to see which way it will go. He is on lower oxygen and makes phone/video calls with family so seems to be a little better, but recovery is slow-going.

Oh, shoot, I'm sorry! Wasn't your dh sick in the intervening time, but tested negative? I wonder if it was a false negative? Whatever the case, I hope you're feeling very better soon!

Yes. He tested negative (it was a PCR, though), but he just left to get tested since I'm positive and he has a sore throat and runny nose. I don't have those symptoms. I'm mostly tired and a cough and now diarrhea.

Sending lots of prayers to your DIL's dad.  Is everyone a breakthrough case?

DIL's dad and I are not vaxed.

Her mom and my dh are. Waiting on dh's results. I'm guessing sometime tomorrow.

Oh I forgot about your dh.  Sorry.  How is he doing and your DIL's mom?  Sending lots of prayers to everyone that you all get better.

DIL's mom had a very mild case. I think mostly a fever. My dh was sick at the same time but tested negative. Now he's got a couple of symptoms so he tested today because I'm positive.

I’m wondering if it is from the wedding and I’m on the day-10-gets-worse phase I heard about. The timing could work.

Have you had any symptoms before this? I can’t recall hearing about anyone who was asymptomatic for the first 10 days and then got worse. I’ve heard of that usually in the context of more mildly symptomatic people who become more severely symptomatic in the second week. Based on timing, that could make sense, though. Did your DH get all better and then just now develop new symptoms?

No, no symptoms before.

Dh is hard to pin down. He seems to always have "something." I think it was just last week that he was having low oxygen. I'd have to look at when I posted. It's possible he had a false negative and I just now got it.

DIL's dad is hoping to go home in a few days  is what DS told me last night.

Dh is waiting on his PCR but seems fine.

I have sneezing and stuffy nose today. Super tired. Cough is not bad unless I try to talk. I went and sat in the sun on the deck for a few. Felt good, might go do it again.

No fever today. Just plugging away at my supplements.

ETA: taste and smell are gone. I'm so hungry, too, but it's a bummer to eat.

Good to hear on all fronts.  Hope tomorrow is even better and DIL's dad gets home.

That’s good news. How are you doing?

I’m doing pretty well. Bored and ready to escape my room. I’ve done some laundry but that’s it as I’m trying to avoid everyone else. A stuffy nose and mild cough is all that’s left. Hoping it stays that way. No fever since Monday. Much less tired today. Having zero taste/smell is weird. Eating is gross but I’m hungry all the time.

I am glad that everyone is doing better. Sending you prayers for a continued easy recovery. I lost my taste about 6 weeks ago -- a rare side effect of anesthesia from a procedure -- and I totally feel you. I miss the taste of food so much! Rest easy. Hope you get your senses back soon.

Today I was free from my quarantine! I feel great! I am still missing my taste and smell although today

I did perceive “salty.” 😆

I used the supplements recommended here: C, zinc, quercetin, NAC, melatonin, and vitamin D. I really felt the NAC helped as my cough all but disappeared after I got ahold of some a few days in.

What is NAC?

N-Acetyl-Cysteine

(ETA: It's a bit controversial as FDA claims it's a drug and cannot be sold as a nutritional supplement. Amazon has stopped selling it, but it's still available from WalMart and other sellers, as well as directly from manufacturers like Thorne.)

I didn’t know it was controversial. I just saw it mentioned here and also by a friend. Interesting. Definitely going to order more now.

It's not controversial in terms of being safe or effective — the controversy is whether it can be sold as a supplement because it was apparently patented as a drug in the 1960s, and the FDA seems to be taking the position that since it was originally patented as a drug, it's still a drug not a supplement. I totally disagree with that, as do a lot of companies that manufacture and/or sell it and who are currently fighting the FDA on it. But Amazon seems to have gotten spooked by the controversy and has pulled all NAC supplements from their site.

Oh, shoot! I didn’t know about this and it would be problematic for us if we couldn’t get it any more. One of my young adults has used it for years for something else. I’m confused about why it couldn’t be sold under that reasoning. I take a supplement at the direction of my cardiologist that used to be a prescription a long ago, but is now just sold as a supplement.

My first faint whiff of anything in 2 weeks is . . .cat litter?

Rude.

Well that's a bummer.

Glad the senses are coming back, though.

Well, it's certainly not a celebration one would normally expect, but Yay for smelling... cat litter! 🎉😂🎉

I didn't realize how much I was taking for granted when I was telling my little stinkers earlier that they are stinky. 😉
