Murphy101 Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 Since Christmas shopping apparently needs to come early this year, and on a tighter budget for many people too. How about a list of gift ideas under $25? I suggest that bc i *think* it’s a fairly common gift $ max for gift exchanges or maybe that’s just my family. Anyways. I’ll start with some things I’m looking at or have bought in the past that were hits. Some are small enough to be stocking stuffers too. Maybelline super-stay matte ink lipstick Bonsai tree kit Cute backpack purse. Feels like leather & lots of pockets! Bowls & chopsticks set for the ramen lovers Bigger ramen bowl set Tree hammock with bug net Bonsai weeping willow kit Crayons light box - my newly turned 5 yr old loves hers. Pineapple emotions - like Mr Potato but a pineapple! Anker portable charger Christian car air freshener Flameless LED candles w/remote and timers. - a huge hit w/everyone I’ve given them to & we love ours too. 13 6 Quote

Ausmumof3 Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I went to Kmart for gifts for an organisational thing I do and the shelves were really light on in the toy section. Lots of shelves with just one or two of something stacked at the front of the shelf rather than piles of stuff. 1 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I bought a set of LED candles for my mantle from Costco. I had to replace batteries last year, but I've had them for several years. The outside is wax. they flicker. I've made an effort to not turn them all on at precisely the same time, varying it slightly means they don't flicker in sync. 4 Quote
Night Elf Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 Candles, especially 3 wick which are nicer than just single wick. Fuzzy blanket. Gel pen pack for people who like to journal. Mine has 8 colors. Journal. There are some nice faux leather ones. For someone who likes to decorate their journals, a gel pen pack and/or washi tape, stickers. 4 Quote
HomeAgain Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 For someone who likes to cook, this gift has been popular 3 years running now: 1 oz "sampling" sizes of different spices/blends from our tea and spice store, and some sort of kitchen item from Marshall's/T.J. Max: small wood bowl, shaker, pretty tablespoon/teaspoon combo. Ds puts it together for his dad, and I am usually given teas and something pretty or something sweet to go with. 5 1 Quote

elegantlion Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 You could make up a fun gift basket from World Market. I don't know how many of their food products you can buy online, but in store they have a good selection. Also they have small lotions and other bath products too. I generally buy ds some Japanese soda - looks like Ramune is only available in the store. Their Icelandic chocolate bar is my ideal chocolate. Pair it with a bottle of Kraken Dark Roast Rum and it would be great. 😏 Weighted bookmark - I'm surprised how much I actually use this - would be great for students. Coffee Brown ink gel pens - jet pens also has these. This is a nice deep color. Would be good to pair with a journal or coffee cup & giftcard for coffee. If you know someone who likes unique stickers - a RebBubble gift certificate. I buy 10-15 stickers at a time for ~$20. I also like to look through museum gift shops - some online are pretty good. I like that you can get unique jewelry (costume not real stones) for sometimes decent prices. 6 Quote

Condessa Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) I have found that board games make great economical gifts for my nieces and nephews that still live at home. A lot easier to come up with ideas for, as it is natural to give as a shared gift for them to play together, and a $30-$40 game for each of two families can be a lot nicer than trying to come up with something under $8 for each of ten kids, especially the teens. mmasc Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) I love this and have another one on my own personal wish list. I’ve also gifted it and it was well received! We always love the new Christmas sets that Lego comes out with. Here is this year’s. So cute I just bought this and love it! They’re the perfect size to open the box and have several to put in with other people’s gifts or stockings. (I kept one for me and it feels so nice on my lips at night) Fellow boardie @mummakes a lovely set of 4, handmade napkins for right at $25. Pretty and practical—my kind of gift! (She has more than just Christmas prints!) This is something I’d like to receive, although I know many wouldn’t find it super exciting 🙂 I found these through recs on the board. I like getting earrings, and these are on my wish list this year. These sack bags are on my kids’ list this year, and I feel pretty confident most teens could use one if they don’t have one already. that’s all I can think of for now! Oh, and as always, there’s a new diary of a wimpy kid book coming out this month and we always buy it for Christmas. Edited October 19, 2021 by mmasc Typo 6 1 Quote

Oh, and as always, there’s a new diary of a wimpy kid book coming out this month and we always buy it for Christmas. Oh! Your list reminded me of some more things to add! XL microfiber towels I bought a couple of these 4 years ago to pack for my scuba trips. And they are fabulous. Big enough to double as a small airport blanket or beach blanket, perfect for curly hair, super absorbent but dries very quick, and packs up very compact for travel and has held up very well. Every time I pull them out everyone around me asks where I got it. It’s been a huge gift hit with everyone. and I just ordered a huge pack of silk scrunches the other day for under $20. Also it requires some knitting or crochet skills and yarn but I swear the biggest requests I get are for my knitting cup cozies and water bottle holders. If they don’t get them in their stocking or for at nick day - they are super bummed. 4 1 Quote
