21st birthday gift ideas

DD’s 21st birthday is right around the corner. I would really like to get her something special, but I have no idea where to even start looking. Suggestions, please! Bonus points for unique items that have something to do with bio/chem!

Unrelated to bio or chem, but we got one daughter a couple of really nice bookcases for her 21st. She loves them, and I expect she'll have them forever.

To add a personal touch, we included some bookends that double as photo frames.

Ok, so I wasn’t going to do jewelry, because that’s what I always seem to fall back on for birthdays, BUT… I did find a couple items that I think she would find amusing: Mitochondria earrings (from me, because mitochondrial dna comes from your mom!) and a resveratrol molecule necklace- the next best thing to being able to take her out for a glass of wine.

I’m making a reminder for this one for a graduation gift, which is also just around the corner! (May, but if I don’t start thinking about it now…)
