DH has stage IV cancer. With his oncologist's okay he had cataract surgery last year. It went fine. No trouble at all. I know several older people who've had cataract surgery, and I can't think of anyone who had any problem. Good luck to your GFIL!

Sending good thoughts for a smooth, complication free procedure. My mom recently had hers done, one at a time, with no complications and she has lots of health and eye conditions.

My mom (very complicated medical issues) recently had this done. It went really well and she is amazed at the difference in how well she sees as well as the color difference. She’s someone who always has complicated issues and didn’t have any with this. She now wishes she had done it years ago.

My parents both had cataracts removed when they were in their eighties. Each had one eye done at a time. All the procedures went smoothly, with easy recoveries. They were glad to have more vision back, and commented particularly on how vivid colors were after the surgery. Hope your GFIL enjoys his recovered sight just as much!

Sending good thoughts. My 75 y/o friend had cataract surgery this summer, I drove her. Picked her up two hours later, we had a picnic lunch, and the next day she drove herself to her checkup and that afternoon she was back at her gardening. Other eye a few weeks later, same deal.

Sending lots of positive thoughts. My mom, dad, and grandmother had cataract  surgery  with  no problems whatsoever. My former-nurse mother was very excited that they gave her a video of the procedure. My dad…not so much. 😊

I understand your fear! I experienced the same dichotomy. One beloved person in my life had a negative outcome. BUT two others who had cataract surgery did great. Fabulously so. Decades of thankfulness.

So I get it—am praying—and reassuring, too, that chances are that all will be well.
