It's Christmas project time.

I get a bit overwhelmed trying to find patterns online, so I was wondering if people would share links to their favorite knit mistake rib or ear flap hat patterns for worsted weight (which I might double for warmth).

Circular knit is preferred. Tried and true preferred. I would pay a reasonable price if needed, but free is always nice.

I have a ravelry account, but go in circles on there.

TIA!

As a knitter I didn't want to leave your post unanswered. I don't have a ribbed hat pattern but I have three other tried and true patterns:

1) Purl Soho Classic Cuffed Hat. I love the classic look, it's way easy, and has many size options.

2) Double Thick Hat by Kareema Ali. I made it in fingering but since it's golden in on itself, the weight is more worsted. So many customization options too.

3) Thorpe Hat. I admit that I haven't made this yet but it's on my queue for this winter. Looks well designed. https://ravel.me/thorpe

I made this Norwegian Star Earflap hat a couple of years ago. The Earflaps aren't double, but I would think you could knit them in the round like sock toes and then continue the hat pretty easily. I liked the pattern a lot because I got three hats out of the two skeins I bought, 1st my original plan, then I swapped mc and cc, then I made a free form pattern that slowly changed from one color at the brim to the other color at the crown. Got my money's worth it of the whole thing!

My go-to hat patterns are the WWII watch cap and the Bankhead pattern. Both are free on Ravelry. Both are ribbed patterns.

Neither uses Mistake Rib, but I think it would be interesting to adapt it and see how it works. Neither has ear flaps, but they have long bottom ribs which can be folded higher where you need it higher and lower over the ears where you need lower.
