Howdie, happy Tuesday!

On our honors chemistry saga ... they are still acting like this is a sustainable situation.  I sent another email today.  Sunday and Monday nights were horrible.  Hours of homework for both of us and she still doesn't understand any of it.  There is no time to sit back and actually learn the stuff because of the homework output requirements.

I know I'm going to hear about how she should have done this over the weekend.  Well frankly, scr&w you.  (Not you guys, the hypothetical voice in my head.)  This past weekend was homecoming weekend, and every teacher knew it.  We also have other things to do, just like every family.  Why should we cancel everything else so my kid can do honors chemistry work?  This is benefiting nobody on this planet.  [We didn't realize how much work was assigned until Sunday evening - and that's on my kid - but that doesn't change the fact that it's too.much.freaking.work.for.her.]

My work deadlines are getting seriously pressed by this stupid chemistry homework.  It's ridiculous.  I came this.close to emailing what I really think about the principal's bullshit.  But I edited that part out.  😛

So ... today my main goal is to send out draft reports to clients, asap.  These are complex reports that are due to their investors on Thursday.  They need time to review them.  They don't want to hear about my chemistry woes!

I begged off pup duty today in favor of meeting work deadlines.  Now I'm fighting off a headache.

Also ... need more coffee!!

@SKL -- is the school not simply letting her make the switch??? that is insane. Why on earth....??? I'm so sorry they're being such jerks about it.  Also, sorry about the headache. I woke up with one as well, but fortunately all I had to cancel was a get-together with my mom/sister. Feel better, and I hope you're able to get things done!

My day today got rearranged thanks to my headache -- woke up with this weird, only really happened once before like this, headache where it's not a true migraine, but the whole front/top of my head hurts and lying down makes it hurt worse. Took all the meds, have been applying a cool washrag to my wrists (for some reason that helps??), sitting in comfy clothes and it's improving/improved enough I should be able to nap soon.

Was supposed to go to my mom's today for a quilt-along check-in with her and my sister, but cancelled that the minute I woke up feeling like this (b/c even if the meds do their job, I need to absolutely stay home and rest/make sure the headache doesn't rebound/be able to go to bed if it does so that I'm fine by tomorrow for class).

Fortunately, because I was supposed to be gone all day today, I did all of my prep last week for tomorrow, so I have nothing to do today but rest as needed. Fold towels, maybe, and figure out dinner, but otherwise nothing. Whew.

Mom/sister rescheduled for Thursday.

My kid is having a rough day at school.  She says her brain hurts and she can't think at all.  I suggested she go to the nurse and ask for a Tylenol.  They won't give her one without a doctor's note.  At lunch, she sits with really loud friends.  She put her head down, so one friend shrieked across the lunchroom to the other friend that my kid is depressed.  She pushed her friend.

Ugh.  Wish she didn't have 4 more hours of school to sit through.

Yeah, they keep saying she isn't doing that badly and "what if there isn't a seat in general chemistry."

So.....if she quits turning in the work for a week, so that she *is* doing that badly, will they take the time to even freaking check to see if there's a seat in regular chemistry???

Good grief.

Or if you start turning in a log of how much time was spent....? or her other classes start suffering....? What on earth do they need to see, and when did a parent request stop being enough????

@SKL sounds like a power struggle, 🙄, imagine a parent actually knowing more about their child then the principal and the counselor in the school! I would probably end up going over their head myself

@SKL, I am so very sorry you are both dealing with such utter nonsense! I'm with MooCow on going over their heads. Sounds like the Superintendent might need to be called.

Two Zoom sessions are over. My third one is getting pushed back to 2:30, so I'm going to get dressed and run my errands. I might get lunch out somewhere.

I'm so frustrated.  The counselor said last Monday's meeting was supposed to be about what's best for my daughter.

This morning's email from me was not especially friendly.  I deleted the "I was disappointed" part but left in the parts about too much work [for my kid], work she doesn't understand, not being able to do other classes' homework, me getting behind on my work, the stress level in the house, and health issues worsening.  (Most of these were already discussed multiple times before.)  I copied the teacher, the counselor, and the 10th/11th grade principal.  So far no comment from the school.

I suggested my kid go to the counselor today due to the headache situation, but she doesn't want to.

ETA and as to not doing the work ... she just can't bring herself to not do it.  And honestly I can understand that.  She was hoping to get up early and do the other classes' work this morning, but she was too tired, and then in study hall she was suffering from a severe headache.  So I don't know how the other challenging-for-her classes are going to go today.

I may have to go over their head if this doesn't get resolved pretty soon.

None of this is really my style (being confrontational etc.).  It has to be pretty bad for me to be this feisty about it.  😛

Head is much better, going to take a nap and hopefully wake up all fine.  DH said "aren't these supposed to be only when,......"  Yes, yes they are. Were. Welcome to perimenopause, when everything goes wonky. (I am starting to wonder, as the last ones have all been Tuesdays, if wine on a Monday night is a bad combo; I have usually one glass of red wine at night, and while I drink *more* water on a Monday than a normal day, maybe the tiredness, not eating well, *something* interferes...???).

Also, it's thundering, so could be a weather thing, although usually that hasn't in the past been a trigger.

Have sent several work related emails and handled various parent texts, and DH dropped DS's stuff on my desk for me to work up a schedule to keep him on track, so napping and then will do that.

Got my hair done, she added a few blonde streaks in my hair, ooh la la!

Went to the grocer

Made a manicure appointment for Friday morning

I'm watching my granddaughter Friday afternoon while my daughter-in-law gets a pedicure and a manicure and brings a lot of stuff to her stepmom who's joining us on our vacation with her daughter. They're driving so they get to bring all the stuff LOL

Also clean the kitchen yet again and I have the dishwasher running

Still need to pick up youngest from school and work on my school

I went to the insurance office and post office.

I stopped at a neat restaurant we hadn't tried yet. It's in an old Texaco gas station/repair shop. They had a lot of neat decor, including old toy Texaco trucks. My grandfather drove a Texaco truck for quite a few years, and I had just been thinking I might want to find something similar to put in our office. We hope to put some kind of train engine in there to honor my dad's career, and dh is getting a steel structure that his dad made at his work (steel mill) to honor his career.

Oh, that's the coolest idea! What a fun and family-honoring way to decorate the office. ❤️

Got middle DS going on his school stuff

DH & youngest went for haircuts, so with everyone else busy, I played my solo videogame

Oldest has class tonight, so cooking *very early* so he can eat, and hoping the weather isn't horrible on his drive to/from

After we eat/Oldest leaves, youngest & I have one more history worksheet that I guess we forgot, so need to do that, then will be free time for everyone

I made dinner (chicken stir fry), and we went to purchase flowers We put them my mother's, grandparents', and great-grandparents' graves. It feels nice to live so near them and be able to do things like that.

Too dark for a walk now

Dinner was good. Added jalapeño poppers and fried okra to the meal since the chx chili didn’t seem like enough. Kitchen is tidy.

Helped ds order something. He is watching a movie now.

Dh is playing guitar.

Dd is doing math hw.
I made some tea and had a little Lily’s chocolate. About to read.

I love a peaceful house. Today was a lovely, ordinary day.

I got an 88 on my midterm. 115 questions right out of 125...or was it 110 right? I'm just glad it's over.

Took a quick walk

Have to change my nail appointment tomorrow...it'll be the third time

I made very little progress on my work reports throughout the day, so I will be up all night hoping to send them out before my clients' office hours start.

My kid did her chemistry and other homework without my help, except for one question which didn't make sense to me either.

I made arrangements for my pup to have an overnight this coming weekend with someone who hopefully can board him when we go out of town.  She is the "dog whisperer" we visited this past Saturday, and she will also do training and socialize him to other dogs.  I hope I am not being a pain, but she is one of those people who are so nice and polite that you can't tell.  😛
