WildflowerMom Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 So I've had a Bartholin's gland cyst before that went away on its own (actually I've probably had a few there). I frequently have tenderness in that spot. So yesterday that spot started burning, like really burning, on and off. Still doing it today. *But* I don't feel any swelling, nor a lump or anything. I don't particularly want to go to the doctor because they'll go ahead and do a regular Gyno visit since I didn't go last year and I have scar tissue in my pelvis from previous surgeries so it always hurts. What would y'all do? 2 Quote
PeterPan Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Well since I've never had a gyno exam (homebirths, just never been), I would soak it, see if it goes away, and try to scrounge up a new doc who could do the exam with less pain. I wouldn't let it go beyond the end of the day. Is there red, streaking, or sign of infection? And just for my ignorance, you're saying you can't *turn down* the full exam and say no only this? 1 Quote

Well, I really like my Gyno. She can't help that it's painful. I've just had numerous surgeries and it is what it is, ykwim? And I could definitely turn her down, but honestly I'd hate to go all the way to the office and not go ahead and get it over with if I'm already there. I'll try soaking in an epsom salt bath and see if it helps. 1 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Can you ask the gyno to let you put the speculum in? That’s what I do. It’s much more comfortable that way. 1 1 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Go to the doctor and tell them they need to be gentle with you because of scar tissue from previous surgeries. On a side note, if you have a lot of tenderness, you might ask them to teach you a gentle massage technique to help break that up at home. Foam rolling and some self-massage has really helped me with my post-op adhesions. 1 Quote
ktgrok Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Could it be the start of a yeast infection? 1 Quote
WildflowerMom Posted September 27, 2021 Author Posted September 27, 2021 No, not a yeast infection. Just burning right where the gland is, where I've had problems for about 3 years or so. I'm going to have dh take a look in a minute. I did not know about breaking up scar tissue. I'm definitely going to ask about that! Quote
MercyA Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 How are you feeling today, @WildflowerMom? Quote
kbutton Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Maybe nerve damage from the previous cyst? Why it would be glaring up at the moment and not before now, IDK. 1 Quote

ktgrok Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Maybe something was pressing/pinching on it? Tight jeans or something? It isn'to exactly related, but the weird cyst things I get on my lady bits (not the same as yours..mine are more weird and no one knows exactly what they are except maybe a very mild case of HA) are definitely linked to tight pants with me - specifically firm tight pants. So jeans, shorts with a cotton non stretchy material, etc. Have one now from wearing jeans twice this week. Back in leggings and it is going away. (and my Gyn couldn't figure it out - it was a brave dermatologist willing to go where no other derm had gone before on me who figure it out, lol) 1 Quote
