MamaSprout Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) Can someone please direct me to a post/ resource for signing up for an AP course audit? Everything I can find just says, "It's easy!"... but I can't get past the first page that asks for Professional Organization. Homeschool is not an option for my zip code and I live in a no regulation state. Edited September 24, 2021 by MamaSprout Quote

Miss Tick Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 I don't remember the official wording, do you mean you want to be given permission to teach a course? Quote

I went through the process a few weeks ago and out was super quick and easy once I realized 1) use the state DOE as the official location, and 2) it took two tries to understand what kind of declaration they wanted from me since I've never had to do that before. Also I just picked their syllabus and text since my certification is just a convoluted backup plan. Are you teaching something exciting? Quote
MamaSprout Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) Yes, it was DOE address that was confusing me! I'm working on the declaration right now. There is nothing official for my state, so I'm winging it. Not anything fun really. It's Microecon. She'll probably just follow the AP syllabus except for the group stuff. We had more fun with Macro- we did the CORE Public Policy book and some other interactive stuff, but no exam. We just realized that dd is definitely going to need an Econ credit, but we can't get a Macro exam. Having this exam done might actually save her a summer school semester with the way classes work out for two of her target schools. The one school doesn't take CLEP (or an online DE credit) and the other requires both CLEP exams for an econ credit. There's usually only one seated econ class at the DE school, so it's hard to get into. AP it is. She also could almost walk in and take HUG without studying, but we can't get a site for it, either. Our one test site would probably order it, but they aren't giving any exam in that time slot. They test offsite from the school, so no proctor is available. Since the first week of AP exams is also finals week at her DE school, we can't travel too far. I think the Friday noon Micro is a pretty safe time slot, though. Miss Tick Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 You guys are really on the ball with planning. I'm still trying to get my people to commit to a general area of interest. I remember doing the econ series in college as a required elective and getting nothing out of it, smart to knock it out via test. 1 Quote
MamaSprout Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) Well... Dd is my youngest. She's wanted to be an engineer of some sort since she was 8-10 years old and saw some of the Boston Dynamics videos and NOVA Making Stuff. Engineering programs are very similar school to school because of ABET. The only wildcard is her minor/ double major which will be some combo of Russian, poly sci and/or international studies. It was not as clear-cut with my older kiddos. One didn't know for sure what he wanted to do until senior year of college, lol. Good thing he went to grad school.
