theelfqueen Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 (edited) So we are starting in on Henry V this week. One of his assignments for this play is to learn the St Crispin's Day speech. We have not read or studied the play yet - though he did study Henry IV last year and we did a good long stretch on the Wars of the Roses many years ago... He read the speech and said "do they all immediately die in glory after this? I know Henry V died fairly young...." I said "do you know what battle was fought on St Crispin's Day?" "No." "Agincourt." "Oh. Oh. (Pause, you can see the wheels turning) So they're not all about to die, they're going to conquer Normandy! Well that changes things." I love when a plan comes together.
