Jenny in Florida Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) Yesterday, I noticed that I kind of lost track of feeling aware of my arms and legs for a while. I mean, I knew there were there, and I was using them to do things (drive, walk, etc.), and they were functioning okay. My hands, in particular, felt a little more clumsy than usual, but mostly both arms and legs just felt oddly . . . distant, kind of floaty. I do have neuropathy in my feet, lower legs and arms/hands. Particularly in my feet/legs, this results in a certain loss of sensation, especially when it comes to temperature. So I'm used to that. This was different. I'm sure it's nothing, just another weird thing that "happens sometimes" or that my doctors would ascribe to lack of sleep or the existing neurological stuff or something. But it was weird enough that I would like to do a little research. However, I cannot figure out what search terms would get me anywhere. Has anyone heard of anything like this? Have any vocabulary for me to use as a starting point? Or just want to suggest some phrasing? Edited September 1, 2021 by Jenny in Florida 1 Quote
MooCow Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Are you diabetic? I would check blood sugar if yes. Quote
Jenny in Florida Posted September 1, 2021 Author Posted September 1, 2021 Nope, not diabetic. I am insulin resistant, but medicated and my sugar has been well controlled for a few years. Also, I did not feel light-headed or dizzy or anything like that, if it matters. Just disconnected in some weird way from my limbs. Quote
RootAnn Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) I tried a few things from your post Disconnected feeling from limbs Not aware of limbs Clumsy limbs None seemed to give answers you are looking for. Things I found are BID, Proprioception, Ataxia, and stroke symptoms. I think if you start along these lines you might find wording that will help get you closer as I'm not sure any of the above terms fit. Edited September 1, 2021 by RootAnn Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 It's still part of neuropathy, in my experience. What does your neurologist say? Quote
Danae Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Asomatognosia is a condition where a person doesn’t recognize a limb as belonging to their body. It’s more dramatic than what you’re describing, though. Quote

Is the neurologist the doctor that hasn’t given you test results? (Or do I have you confused with a another poster? Or the neurologist with another doctor?) no matter what I hope your appointment goes well and you are able to get some answers to these issues. Quote
itsheresomewhere Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 How is your vitamin D? In some cases, it can cause symptoms like you describe when you really low. Quote

Yep, that's me. I did get the results from the testing, by driving to the office and camping out in the waiting room until they squeezed me into the schedule. (They refused to just give me a print-out of the results until the doctor reviewed the information with me.) i The appointment next week is to review results from the MRI I finally opted to pay for out of pocket because the insurance company declined it again.
