It's been a while since I've had to buy sheets. Anyone have any favorites? (Yes, I know I can look at reviews online. Somehow, recs from people I *know* (even if only online) seem better.

We bought bamboo sheets recently and I really like them.

I think our last two sets came from Target.  Cotton, nice thread count, and most importantly, little tags on the deep pocket bottom sheet to tell me which is the side and which is the top/bottom.

I sleep on linen sheets because they’re warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Most of mine are vintage (or antique!), but I got some from Brooklinen recently that are nice. Not as sturdy as my others, but still nice and more easily accessible.

I recently bought these sheets--Threshold brand. I considered it a splurge at $50 for the queen set (I know they can get a lot more expensive than that but I tend to look for sales, etc.). I love this little touch! And there's elastic on the 4 corners mid-way between the top and bottom to help hold the fitted sheet in place.

Yes!  Those are exactly the ones I was talking about! 🙂

yes, those are my favorites too. I think it's their Threshold brand, and they have elastic in the edges (good elastic) on the corners to stay put, and fit deep mattresses, and so smooth feeling.

We get all our sheets there. the only down side is once you get all the sheets there, if you have different sized beds, they do NOT have good markings for size of sheets. So, either remember to get different colors for different sizes, or only wash same sized sets at the same time, or write the letter on the tag with sharpie, or just accept the fact you'll be putting full sized sheets on your queen sized bed and having to stop and rearrange and then go upstairs and find the queen sized ones because you once again mixed them up while folding/putting away.  Ahem.

(we've since done all of the above -- color coded, and marked the tags, because this was super annoying)

I've slept on bamboo sheets before, and they are so luxuriously soft!  This was at a B and B for a major birthday trip, and I decided to treat myself to some of their sheet sets for purchase, only to notice that the reviews said that they don't hold up well--pill like crazy.  So, no bamboo for me.

I love buying sheets from American Blossom Linens.  They are 100% organic cotton, fully grown and processed in the US.  They even have one color that is grown with a warm tan cotton boll so it's naturally colored--no dye or bleach involved.

@Lucy the Valiant WI is definitely flannel sheet land, IMO. DH vehemently disagrees.

Haha! A close friend buys flannel AND cotton, cuts them up the center, and sews them back together as "half and half" sheets - cotton for her DH, and flannel for her. They look funny, but work GREAT, and - hey, when the bed's made, you can't see them anyway. 😉

I like the wamsutta dream zone.  the only place I've found them is bed, bath & beyond.  come in 500, 750, and 1000 thread count pima cotton.

Following. I’d like a new set, but I’m so ultra picky about how they feel. I like crisp, cool, soft cotton. I feel like the only way to get that is to buy some 100% cotton sheets and wash them for several years before I use them. (Not really kidding—it’s actually my current plan with the new sheets I bought and don’t like😁)

@DanaeHuh. Well, I like the feel of the bamboo cloth diapers we have, so maybe I'd like bamboo sheets too?

@Lucy the Valiant

I got them because I like my bamboo socks!

Mine are not quite a year old, but no pilling yet.

I also love linen sheets. I bought some after stumbling across a thread on here about sheets, and reading about how wonderful and long lasting they are supposed to be.

I saw you commented that you don’t think your dh would like them, so I wanted to add… my skin is very sensitive to fabric types, and I have never liked the feel of linen clothes (seems rough and scratchy), but the linen sheets I bought really do feel so nice and soft. They are the only sheets I use now.

Linen is a lot less scratchy when it isn’t ironed.  Most people only experience it ironed so they don’t realize this.  But I have some linen dishtowels and straight out of the dryer they are wonderfully soft.

Can I ask a question in regards to sheets since we also need new sheets. Can people point me in the direction of king sized sheets that actually fit on a darn king size mattress that is I guess deeper than standard? Because our king sheets have never fit properly on our mattress.

Thanks

Costco has sheets that will fit a very deep mattress. MIL has them. They’re quite nice.

Haven't tried the King Size, but the Target Threshold ones really have super deep pockets.

After all these recs for the Target Threshold ones, I will definitely be getting some of those. I am also intrigued by the thought of bamboo, but I might try and find some in a store first to know what they actually feel like.

Try the target sheets.
I wash and put the same ones back on the bed because I like them so much better than my other set of queen sheets.

they really do have that soft cotton feel of quality older sheets right away.

I have one of those big fat king sized mattresses and my American Blossom king sized sheets fit it with room to spare.  I figure if I ever need a mattress topper I'll be able to fit it in with no problem.

Are those Target sheets crisp or silky?  I like the crisp feel .

They are not crisp. If you want crisp, try Sferra. The percale--not the sateen. I got mine at Tuesday morning. You might also look at Redland Cotton sheets.

I'm going against popular opinion here, but I won't buy the Threshold sheets from Target again. They just don't hold up for very long. The fitted sheets always end up thinning and then eventually ripping apart. I get maybe a year out of them. I have some sheets that I bought from Kmart (Martha Stewart) decades ago that are still intact.

I have tried the pricier Martha Stewart sheets from Macy's and they didn't hold up either.

My Sferra sheets (((so far))) are holding up well. I haven't had them long enough to be sure a year and a half maybe.

I ordered some of the giza cotton sheets from My Pillow, and they feel wonderful! They have a heft to them, too, which makes me think that they might be durable. I have these sheets on guest twin beds, so they don't get used much.
