I am really needing  +.75 or +1.0 reading glasses all the time now.  I wear contacts and have not interest in 'real' bifocal because with glasses I lose 100% of my peripheral vision since my distance is so bad. I would like to find a fake bifocal where the distance lens is not corrected but it has a bifocal.  Rimless would be ideal. Does anyone know if this exists?

I used to have bifocals that were just a +.5 on the bottom for reading and clear on top. My distance was completely fine, I just needed a bit for reading and didn't want to take them on/off all day.

I have had computer glasses in the past, where the lens is the same reading correction, but at two different distances. The bottom was for book distance and the top was for computer distance. My correction was so slight, I could wear them all day and not take them off. Once the reading correction got a bit higher (I think I am at a +.2 now) I couldn't see to read tag on shelves anymore and that go annoying for work (I work in pharmacy). I had to switch to progressives.

Now I have a very slight distance correction with reading on the bottom ( progressive lens). I like it better because I don't have the distinct line in the middle going across the computer screen like the bifocals, but I still need to tip my head a bit to get the sweet spot.

Some people don't realize you can have the line on bifocals moved as well. For instance, it can be a 2/3 reading glass, with just a touch of clear at the top for distance.

I use workspace progressives that are near vision (reading scrip then computer scrip) with just a *teeny tiny* amount of distance at the top. They can probably do a workspace bifocal for you that similarly targets near vision.

Yes.  If you get them from an optician you can get any frames, but it’s pricier.  Target has some that are reading/computer/clear Tri-focal, but I haven’t seen rimless.

Yes, you can get bifocals or progressive readers, but if you want rimless you will probably need to have them made at an optical.  The have to use polycarbonate lenses to do rimless, which drives the price up and also results in poorer optical quality than cr-39 (the entry level plastic option. " A semi-rimless can be done with the cheaper lenses and purchased online-maybe that would be acceptable considering the price difference.

Thank you for bringing this up! I’ve been using readers more than ever, but it’s driving me nuts that I have to take them off every time I glance somewhere else.

Same!

I did order a beaded chain so I can put them around my neck..ala old lady style. My 22 yr old son saw me with that and said, "you look like a librarian - and I mean that as a compliment". Meanwhile, my husband makes fun of me. Dork still has good eyesight.

Over the counter, hanging out on the end-cap rack with the rest of the readers. They don’t have many styles like that, and they get kind of buried in the other types.  I found a pair by accident and I love them.
