sassenach
We call it a barf bucket but it's basically the basins you get from the hospital. It's exactly what my mom used and her mom. Not much has changed in the design of hospital basins over the years.
City Mouse
Toilet as much as possible with a back up trash can in the bedroom for short notice.

True. I think maybe it’s because it’s more liquid I just have visions of it leaking all through the bin. When I think about it I don’t put any liquids in. When I think about it I don’t put any liquids in. I can't speak for others, but usually we double line a small trash container with small trash bags, or plastic grocery bags. There are usually paper towels or facial tissues that also get tossed in from wiping mouth, brow, etc. so those will help absorb some liquid. Then, the doubled bags get tied closed and put in either the regular kitchen trash bin (also lined with a plastic liner) or directly outside in the curb pick-up bin. So, the risk of leakage is incredibly small.
