Teaching3bears Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Membership free to anyone who is awake. I read the whole Afghanistan thread. I don’t recommend it for helping with insomnia. I tried online word games but they didn’t help either. I tried deep breathing. I have a lot to do tomorrow and I want to sleep but it’s not happening. i will give it another 10-20 minutes and try again. 1 7 Quote

Teaching3bears Posted August 20, 2021 Author Posted August 20, 2021 Thank you Seasider too! 1pm is too late for me, especially since I tend to wake really early these days. Anxiety over all the stuff you need to do is not fun. I’m glad things are getting better for you. 2 Quote

Drama Llama Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I would volunteer to be the club treasurer but I am so tired I can't count. Tired but not sleepy is lousy. 9 Quote

Junie Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I'm here, too, but it's early for me. I usually don't go to bed until 1 a.m. (Eastern). The past couple of nights I've been awake until around 4. If I can get to sleep by 2 I'll be thrilled. Hope that all of you can get to sleep! Best wishes for good dreams. :) 4 Quote

Bokons Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I've read that lecithin supplements can help with insomnia/sleep disorders. It's better to get the ones in granules rather than capsules. http://doctoryourself.com/sleep.html http://doctoryourself.com/lecithin.html 2 Quote

I’m usually up until at least 3am and it takes me quite a while to fall asleep. Then, I wake up every hour or so until around 7:00, after which I mostly toss and turn and wish I could get back to sleep. Blech. 5 Quote

Benedryl makes me jump out of sleep, gasping. 😑 3 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 White noise. I really like this one for thunder and lightning. I don't know why I find it relaxing. Sometimes I'll add this crackling fire. to go with it. 5 Quote
KidsHappen Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I am always here this time of night. I take enough sleep inducing meds to stop a Mack truck and still don't usually fall asleep until five or six in the morning. I do usually get enough sleep in that I normally sleep until one or two in the afternoon (which I can easily afford to do during this season of my life) but we just can't seem to adjust my circadian rhythms to save my life. Every now and then I will have a cycle of very little to no sleep for a week or two but that seems to have gotten better as I have gotten older (I really think menopause wrecked havek on my sleep but that has been over for years now). I catch up on the board nightly and then either read or watch a not overly exciting item on my laptop until I fall asleep. Hello to all the other night owls. Wishing you sleep soon. 5 Quote
AbcdeDooDah Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I start school on Monday and will have to be there by 7:30 am. It's a 30 minute drive, plus time to get ready. Ugh. Not looking forward to it. I'm 48 so I guess it's that time but I'm not loving it. I need to figure out how to sleep. 😴 1 3 Quote
TravelingChris Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I am back here. I slept about 2 hours and just took half a pain pill because I am back in pain and it is hard to fall asleep when lots of things hurt. I also had to go to the bathroom do not sure what woke me up. A further issue is how much of my trazadone to take when I also am taking a low dose of amitriptyline 10mg and one tizsnidine plus pain med. I only took half s pain pill last night and only 59mg of trazadone. Before amitriptyline, I was taking my prescribed 3 50mg pills plus the one pill of muscle relaxant and one pain pill. It is so hard to manage meds to adequately sleep but not be sleepy in AM. 2 Quote

Once I put the dog to bed (in her crate in the bedroom), I am pretty much stuck there for the night, because she makes things unpleasant if I disrupt her routine. I do allow myself to stream a couple of episodes of something on my phone or listen to a podcast/play solitaire while waiting to get sleepy, because my brain is not doing well these days if I don't keep it occupied. I used to read myself to sleep every night, but I'm having trouble finding books that hit the right note to keep me occupied without getting me so invested that I can't put them down. But I do try to stay off the internet at night. So, I guess that makes me an honorary member of the club. 2 1 Quote

My problem is reading is that I wear my contacts at night, and take them off during the day, which I adore. However, I cannot read with them in. So when i put them in for bed, I cannot read until I get sleepy. Nor can I read when I get up. Quote
TexasProud Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Ha, well last night I was dreaming that I was somewhere on a mission trip or here or vacation, I don't know and cannot really remember. I know that I knew everyone in the building. But I was in a giant house and there was a giant snake that was loose and very poisonous. There were snake trappers trying to get it and it kept escaping. It went into a room I saw it, but the people in there tried to play with it. I woke up literally screaming at them to run and quit playing with the snake and for the authorities to come. My husband came in, everything ok. LOL. not hard to figure out what this one is about. We still laugh about when we were first married. I taught in my sleep. My husband would pretend to be a student and like he had a problem and I would sit there and talk to him while I was still asleep. LOL. Quote

They are the type that form your eyes at night and then you can see during the day without them. My oldest wore them as well and it actually stopped the progression of his lack of vision. His prescription didn't change at all while he wore them. http://www.cascadiaeyecare.com/ortho-k-lenses/ https://www.westoncontactlens.com/7-things-you-didnt-know-about-corneal-reshaping-and-ortho-k-lenses/ Also, not sure if it is related but I didn't need reading glasses until I was in my early 50's. Then he adjusted one of my contacts, so I only need them occasionally now. Edited August 21, 2021 by TexasProud 2 Quote

Teaching3bears Posted August 22, 2021 Author Posted August 22, 2021 I’m back!!!!! 😒 The insomnia club helped me fall asleep the other night and then Friday night I slept really well.
