gardenmom5 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I've been at the mercy of whatever insurance plan dh get's me every years. (and what plans are available on the individual market - so the state insurance commissioner does have some culpability too.) - I had Kaiser the last three years. sigh. - the insurance plan he got me doesn't have vision for adults. only kids. Anyway - my current policy it outside Kaiser - but no vision coverage. (medically necessary - like my VPD, sure, it's covered. eyeglass Rx, nope.) I have complicated vision, and when I've gone to 'costco optometrists" (when we were flat broke) - it's been cheap, and you get what you pay for. I really have to go to someone who knows my vision issues. Even Ophthals in private practice have left me ill after an exam. This time - I told dh: that's it, we will pay out of pocket, even if it's the $350! (for an exam) I was quoted by my long-time provider the last time I asked. 1 Quote
Laurie Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I thought you were going to say that you gave the cat a bath and lived to tell about it! I'm sorry about the insurance situation. Our "good" eye place no longer accepts what they had called our "good" insurance, so now I'm dreading having to break in a new eye dr. for my daughter who is not always the easiest patient to deal with. It would be so much easier to just keep going there and pay out of pocket, but I think I'd have better luck bathing our cat than breaking the news to my dh! 1 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Yeah, I would consider that part of the total cost of your medical needs. 🙂 I am lucky that I can go in for eye health and then just tack on the vision portion, but if I couldn’t, I wouldn’t think twice about going where you need to go. Presumably he’s saving enough with the plan that he chose that it’s still a better deal anyway. Quote

Well - I've pulled out the allergy wipes a couple times - and he's taken off as soon as he spotted them. I did catch up to him, and wiped him down (attempted to give him treats - he was suspicious. He'd grab one off my hand, then run off to eat it.). All he did was glare at me and tried to be a very limp cat so I couldn't hold him. (didn't work. 😁) My furminator did arrive today - I haven't tried it out on him yet. Supposedly, Siamese don't shed as much as other cats. But he definitely sheds some. Quote

I still have blood floating around from my VPN three. years. ago. . . . (it'll fade they said. It should be gone in a year they said . . . . ) Quote
