I was resigned to stay where I was another year, but I wasn't happy about it. I have had probably 10 interviews in the last 2 years and nothing. Several of the interviews really felt like they already knew who they wanted. And there were at least 2 situations where I came in 2nd but the #1 took the position. But I got it! I have to give 30 days, so I am stuck where I am for a few more weeks, but then.....SEE YA! Some things have happened in the last couple of years that made me really want to leave. And then, with the foster child, I just wanted something closer to home. This is a virtual job, although I won't be working from home. We will be our own "school" in a building, but no students. they said there will be no added duties either. When I think of all the before and after school duties gone off my plate.....whew! I normally put in about an additional hour to 1.5 hours per day with car rider, basketball ticket sales, dance chaperoning, etc.... Oh, and it pays more. Woot Woot! Ok, I looked that up and it says that a unicorn job is: “Unicorn” job descriptions are mystical too, but in a more “Wicked Witch of the West” sort of way. Unicorn job descriptions often include overly-specific skill sets or unclear job requirements that can exclude or discourage perfectly qualified applicants. Is there another meaning? At my work, we bop in and out of 4-8 computer programs. Trying to do all of that on just one screen with multiple tabs is very cumbersome. Then he went to one of my coworkers and said, "Well, I guess you guys are f***ed for this year." Such a lovely man to work for. His attitude and language are always an issue. I am not going to say he has no redeeming qualities, because he has a few, but oy. That is his personality. We are all a bit surprised he is still in leadership in our district. Yeah the way I meant and have heard it is more a magical job that is hard to find and just a great job or dream job kind of thing. It sounds like you have found an awesome job.
