Teaching3bears Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 I am looking for a top loader without an agitator. Mine lasted less than 4 years. I usually get Maytag but they only have a few in the stores. What other brand is good? Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Lol. Speed Queen! (But don’t tell Spy Car). 2 4 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 (edited) Definitely Speed Queen, the only one built to last anymore. Mine has an agitator but is far more gentle than my 2013 agitator free piece of junk Maytag was. Edited August 12, 2021 by Carol in Cal. 2 Quote

Indigo Blue Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 No brand is reliable anymore, except for a very few. One is Speed Queen. Some brands make a commercial version, but I have no knowledge about them or any other potentially more reliable ones. 1 Quote

Scarlett Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Here is the very long thread when asked for recommendations a few weeks back. 2 Quote

Reading this, I don’t know if Speed Queen is for me. My Maytag gets stuff really clean. I put a lot on gentle. I need a bigger capacity than Speed Queen and no agitator. I just don’t want it to break down. I’m still debating whether to just get mine fixed. The fixing is just very expensive. Quote
mmasc Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 (edited) I can tell you what NOT to buy in this category—Samsung. My SIL bought a ‘nice’ one, top loader/no agitator, and it broke within the month. Couldn’t get repairmen to fix it after three visits. Ended up just buying something else. 😞 eta: this was just about 2 months ago, so very recent! Edited August 13, 2021 by mmasc More info 1 Quote
Kassia Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 Another Speed Queen lover (thanks to the hive!). 1 Quote

The fixing is just very expensive. I wash things on gentle/hand wash in my SQ all the time. The capacity is a bit small, but it will knock a load out in 20-25 minutes. And it gets things very clean. 1 Quote
