I’m not actually prone to much foot pain except a bit from all the time in the kitchen for holiday meals (on laminate before, LVP now) and a LOT when I find myself in a concrete floored kitchen for volunteering.

It doesn’t seem to matter what type of shoes I’m wearing. Are any particular inserts good for the few times a year I find myself standing/walking on concrete all day?

Where is the pain in your foot?  I think that that is key to answering your question.

Personally I'd start with extreme cushiness rather than an insole if the issue is concrete floors.  And for that I would recommend wearing Altra Torins.

Well, last time I thought I had irritated the cuboid I had fractured years ago, but it quickly spread to pretty much all areas of both feet.

So then I really would start with those Torins.

And if they didn't work, I would try an insert called 'Natural Foot Orthotics Inserts'.  I like those because they don't just focus exclusively on the middle arch like a lot of others do.

Listen to Carol knows. Carol is the guru, the foot master, the wizard of foot. She helped me much!

I am wearing Brooks Cascades trail running shoes because of Carol, and not only are my b unions doing fine, but my bad ankle is lasting for longer distances. Cushion and that rock plate for support have been a game changer!

@Carol in CAdo you know anything about posterior tibial tendonitis?  I'm going on three months of pain and swelling now from this and meeting with a surgeon in two weeks for a consult.  I don't want to have surgery, but don't want to put it off if I'm going to end up having it anyway.  I'm wearing an ankle brace and OTC orthotics all the time and resting as much as possible.

I got the Altra Torin *Plush* and I agree they're the bomb.

Oh now I'm skunked! I'm looking them up, and I'm only seeing the regular Torin, not the Torin Plush option as well. There were actually two different thicknesses, both recovery. They're a neutral shoe (no stability) but that's what I take. Looks like they also have a leather option too which you might like.

Ooo, maybe they're now calling the Plush version the Luxe? That would make sense. I got my Torin Plush to run on a treadmill and liked them so much I ended up wearing them full time. They feel a little odd at first, being so padded, but my feet love them.

I tore my posterior tibial tendon and had to have two surgeries to repair it.

Have you had an MRI?

My advice, if yours is not torn, stay off it. I was put in a cast before they knew it was torn in order to get me to stay off it. Do not walk on it at all - go get crutches or use a walker. I was told that that tendon has some of the worst blood supply so healing is incredible slow. Sleep with your foot elevated by sleeping on the couch with pillows propped up. Try to keep it elevated as much as possible. Keep wearing your compression brace to help with swelling. I know advice has changed on ice and heating so seek guidance there.

Good news - it took about 8 years but I am able to exercise without too much pain. I always wear comfortable shoes!

Best of luck - stay off it!

Thank you!  I did have an MRI and it's not torn.  I'm trying to stay off of it as much as possible but we're moving dd to campus next week which will require quite a bit of walking.  DH and dd will do what they can to keep me off my feet as much as possible.  It's been a pain resting for three months and not knowing when this will end.  I do elevate during the day but didn't think about doing the same at night - I will try that.  I'm wearing shoes during all waking hours and the brace all the time other than my shower.

I miss running.  😞  I used to run every day, which I suspect is what caused this.

I was diagnosed with PTT and posterior tibial t
enosynovitis  - moderate cases of both from what they can see on MRI.

I’m liking my Powerstep inserts more than Superfeet but keep in mind my SF are much older. I got mine on Amazon.

I learned the hard way recently that the arch support in running shoes comes from the guard (or whatever the term was) on the side! Inside they are all flat and hard! Pull out the insole and look. The insoles themselves are also pretty thin and floppy!

Around the house I wear my Chacos sometimes. I wish there was less texture on them though. I prefer a smooth surface.

If you’re really bored you can watch me talk about shoes 😂 https://youtu.be/XDtA4jSHUR8

I'm not any help, but wanted to follow along.  I've had foot pain for about 3 years and am finally taking time to get it looked at.  So far, an MRI of my ankle yesterday showed (1) Mild peroneal tenosynovitis and (2) Milk midfoot arthrosis involving the naviculocuneiform and fourth TMT joints.  Whatever the heck that means 😆.  The radiology place wouldn't do an MRI of my foot and ankle (both my right) at the same appt, so I am getting the foot MRI on Friday.  Will talk to my doctor after that.

So sorry your foot/feet are hurting.  It is really a bummer as they are used and abused so much and are hard to stay off of.

I’m sorry, no, I don’t.
