Critterfixer Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Morning. It's going to be hot all week. I foresee a lot of watering and ice deployment in the immediate future. Today's goals: House: chores, groceries, kittens need a bath and a room cleaning as they are messy little monsters. Cooking: grilling today. I have a couple meats to do, and we'll have potatoes, cauliflower, and fruit salad. I might bake banana bread for breakfasts this week. School: none, schedules done yesterday. Garden: watering Writing: journal stuff, then revisions all day. I've got some feedback to go through today. 1000 words of drafting time as a reward. That's about it. Trying to stay mostly cool, trying to stay healthy, and monitoring my depression level which isn't great at the moment. Fall is coming, though. 2 Quote

serendipitous journey Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Evening! hope you are healed up, Critterfixer, and re-balanced after last week's weirdness. Today was the usual hectic Mondayness, capped by hosting & running our RPG and augmented by some drama at DH's work. This week he's traveling (!!!) and so PTSD/anxiety management will definitely be a thing. Hope to hit the ground running tomorrow AM with school for boys, planning for me, and time for fitness all around. 2 Quote
HomeAgain Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Good morning! Today: Make bingo draws (I'm loaning out my cards by don't feel comfortable loaning the only set of cards to use with) Violin Wash the camp kitchen stuff Take ds across the bridge to look for new shoes* Work on grammar worksheets for ds this year Okay, I'm seriously getting annoyed at the new shoe ordeal. I'm not asking for much. I want him to have a solid sole, not ultralight cheap foam. I want a supportive top, not lines painted on in vinyl. And I want them to last through the first part of fall, so I need them to not be fishnet on top. He will be outside in them and needs sufficient protection against light rain, accidental puddles, and tree climbing. Frankly, I want a shoe meant for an active child's lifestyle. We went to 5 stores yesterday. In 3 there was only the cheap things above. In the last two, there was literally nothing his size. The one store (Kohl's) had filled their boys' department with an overflow of women's shoes. Today: L.L. Bean, J.C. Penney, and Olympia. Wish us luck here, because I will have exhausted resources at the end of this trip and will need to drive upwards of an hour if I find nothing. And yes, I'd love to order online, but for this kid that only works if it's a shoe he has had and loved before. Since we go through this every 3 months.........we're still waiting on that magic moment. Oldest ds found a shoe he loved at age 16. 6 years later, he's still wearing the same model, buying 3-4 pairs at a time just in case they change it before he's ready. 2 Quote
Critterfixer Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Morning. Yesterday wasn't too weird. I'm able to hide in my writing again, which is good. Today's goals: House: chores School: usual Gardens: watering Cooking: pizza night Writing: Work through about five chapters today--but I'm getting into the redrafting part, which may slow me down. Writers' meeting tonight. 2 Quote
serendipitous journey Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Evening. Hope shoe shopping & writers meeting went well (and everything else, too!). Today we didn't get done the school I'd aimed at, but got some fitness in; I planned some school stuff; we hit the library & got lunch outdoors at a cafe, which was fun; and everybody is sane despite DH traveling. So that's a win. Tomorrow: kick it off with fitness for the boys, 1 planning chunk for me and then piano & school. Have younger finish about an hour of piano practice before any electronics time; and hit our enrichment stuff. Cleaning, planning, and keeping the garden going are on the docket. Dinner will be takeout. 2 Quote
Critterfixer Posted August 11, 2021 Author Posted August 11, 2021 Morning. Today's goals: House: chores Cooking: taco meat. HomeAgain Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Shoe shopping was mostly a success. We couldn't find one medium pair, so now he has a set of almost-hiking shoes for outside play and terribly thin inside ones for physical training. Not my preference, but they'll work. Today: met with new homeschooler laundry gardening violin worked on grammar Now to make dinner. We're having "better-than-Arby's" Big Beef and Cheddars. The nearest Arby's is 8 hours away, so we make our own at home. No curly fries, though. 😞 The store was out. Just straight seasoned fries instead. 2 Quote

Here, I need to kick it out of the park RE planning: get my "subjects and resources" section done, which is probably the most time-intensive for me. Other than that: fitness; music; some schooly stuff; stay sane; prep elder to hop on a plane tomorrow. Dinner: homemade pizza. 1 Quote
Critterfixer Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 Morning. It's not quite as horrible as far as heat today, so we plan to go to the lake. Today's goals (other than lake) House: chores Gardens: watering Cooking: grilling burgers tonight School: none Writing: continue rewrite section today--aiming to be done by Wednesday with that part, continue revisions through midpoint and be done with that by Wednesday.
