athena1277
Some really damp towels were accidentally left in the dryer recently that mildewed. Not visibly, just smelly. Now every time I open the dryer, it has that mildewed smell. I can’t see anything that looks mildewed or dirty. I’ve dried a few loads since then and the smell doesn’t seem to be transferring to the clothes, but it’s still gross. Ideas?
Pawz4me
Maybe a long shot, but have you tried taking your lint filter out and washing it in hot, soapy water? And if you can maybe use a vac attachment or one of those dryer cleaning brushes to get out any loose bits of lint where the filter goes? I'm just guessing the odor could be coming from there.
Tap
Can you spray the inside with bleach? Then wash and dry a bleach-appropriate load of laundry? I would absolutely start with Pawz5me suggestion to clean all the old lint. Maybe there is some old lint harboring the odor.
