Critterfixer Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Last week of July! School will be here before you know it! Oh, wait... Today's goals: House: chores, groceries Cooking: leftovers, but I might bake a pie School: art today Gardens: watering Writing: drafting around 2000 words, maybe 3000; reading, preparing to dive back in for a heavy month of revisions in August Art: I may work on a couple of projects today--a green heron that I liked and some kind of clematis flower that I had an artistic idea of what I wanted to do with some seedheads and a flower yesterday. Extra: I've got a couple of foundling kittens in bad shape that I'm working on this week. They are likely to take up a lot of time. But I think they will soon be on the mend. 3 Quote
HomeAgain Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 It is a grey 65 degrees outside, so it definitely doesn't feel like the last week of July at all! I honestly just want to go back to bed. Oldest needed to be at the airport this morning, which meant a 4am wake up. DH got up at 2:30 to use the restroom and I never fell back to sleep. Today: Finish youngest ds's laundry. Tidy up the main living areas - with everyone coming and going, there's been a lot of fluff dropped. And that's about all I've got in me today. Lunch and dinner are leftovers. I'm letting the youngest watch way too much Youtube, and I'll keep checking my phone to make sure oldest ds gets to his destination okay. 3 Quote

Oh, wait... 🤣 If you got to that pie, bet it was yummy. & HomeAgain, hope your oldest's travel went well. Today we went to a birthday party at a nearby beach. I'd thought it was in the woods (cause, the woods are like 30 yards from the beach) so boys weren't sunscreened but a Better Prepared Parent gave us some. Nice to see people. AND I've actually slept through the night. 2 nights in a row. I haven't had a solid night's sleep since over a year ago: whoo-hoo! and so a major goal for the week is to keep up decent nutrition + exercise so I keep sleeping. If I'm not living in a fog, it'll be marvelous. Left for tonight: boys shower; dinner = pasta + fresh veggies + berry fool; plan basically what school, cleaning & RPG I need to do this week; plan trip to library; get some exercise. PS: oh, my, it is late and so I'm just gonna finish my work here. What school: music daily, piano + Harmony Fine arts. Poetry, Shakespeare, lunch read-aloud + German, art, math for both + writing for both T-F. Cleaning: 30" before lunch. Boys' fitness and mine: first thing Monday. Can try PM other days. Garden: argh!!! need to do some serious stuff. Aim for 15-20", get boys' help with the hand-watering from the can. Library: Tuesday! RPG: read chunk of manual, re-read module, print out handouts for players, get snacks, clean house & run game Monday. Other days focus on moving through module, doing writing prompts + video world prep to meet July goals. So, tomorrow: kick it off with fitness; do some RPG; clean while boys read or play outside; get snacks while boys do Something Useful or Scholarly; lunch; finish prepping RPG, house. okay. Critterfixer Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 Sadly, I did not get to the pie. Most of my Sunday was spent up a river of poo, because the bone children cats have a lot of problems. But they are improving, a little bit at a time. Hopefully, after today, their progress will be more rapid. They aren't starving anymore, which helps, they are being kept very clean, and today they get a total parasite eviction. Today's goals: House: chores School: none Gardens: watering Cooking: probably something, but it might be sandwiches depending Writing: some drafting, probably 2000 words or so Extra: bone children 1 Quote
HomeAgain Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Oldest made it in okay last night. 🙂 He'll be off and running today and we probably won't hear a peep from him until next weekend. Today: clean his closet. I know, I should not touch it. But I went to put something away and had an avalanche fall on me, so for my own sake, it will be tidied. He also knows this and is fine with my level of intrusion. School: sort through and plan history weeks. DS changed his mind on math so now planning that out as well Tutoring: make fun sheets for my extra kiddos for tomorrow Practice violin Set up the bill pays for the first of the month, deposit some checks Begin sorting the camp equipment Gardening 2 Quote

Critterfixer Posted July 27, 2021 Author Posted July 27, 2021 Morning! Bone children had a big day of getting fixed up yesterday, so hopefully now they can rest and recover. Today's goals: House: chores, decluttering continues Cooking: pizza night Gardens: all the watering (it's so awfully hot) School: usual Writing: 2000 words drafting, some revision stuff to read and think about, writers' meeting, short story revision, journal Extra: bone children--cleaning, medications, socialization 2 Quote
HomeAgain Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Good afternoon! Today has been busy. So far: Cleaned all the cookware for camping and inventoried missing items Took photos/video of the kid working on a merit badge. With Covid throwing wrenches, we helped him set up a blog so he, scoutmaster, and his merit badge counselors could all get on the same page if they can't be together. Laundry Still to do: Sit with the kid while he works on his blog post Work on putting together my master binder this year Put away the clean mess kits Tidy the school rooms 2 Quote
Critterfixer Posted July 28, 2021 Author Posted July 28, 2021 Morning! Today will be almost 100F here with a heat index of around 107, so most of the day will be spent keeping chickens cool. They have multiple fans and ice bottles to help, but I will probably make ice runs over the next few days at noon to help. Goals: House: chores, decluttering continues Cooking: grilling hamburgers Gardens: all the watering School: usual Writing: 2000 words to draft, short story revision continues, journal Extra: bone children: cleaning, meds, socialization 2 Quote
HomeAgain Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Good morning! Rain is threatening so my idea of waterproofing the tent and washing the cots is not going to happen. Instead: -get a new bike rack (to hold all 4 bikes) -work with ds on another of his badge requirements -start "packing". It's not really packing. It's putting things we need in a pile so that they can be packed when they're all together -violin 2 Quote
serendipitous journey Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Evening! Today slid by alright; we hit writing + good amount of enrichment, yay! but not fitness or some other stuff. Tomorrow some folks are arriving (earlier than expected -- I'd thought next week) to begin demolishing & removing our defunct fireplace. So it will be an Adventure. My hope is to hit 2x fitness with boys, as much of other essentials as humanly possible, and arrive at the end of the day with my wits either intact or only mildly frayed. 1 Quote
Critterfixer Posted July 29, 2021 Author Posted July 29, 2021 Morning. The less said about this day, the better. I've already been injured and probably ruined something, and it's not even 10 am yet. Goals: House: none. I don't want to die. Cooking: none. I don't want to die. School: usual. Gardening: watering, but I will probably have to have the boys do all that today. Writing: probably only revision and maybe 1000 words drafting. Extra: Bone children: cleaning, meds, socialization. 2 Quote
serendipitous journey Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 (edited) Critterfixer -- hope the rest of your day is better, and the injury heals quickest. For today, cut-and-paste from above: music daily, piano + Harmony Fine arts. Poetry, Shakespeare, lunch read-aloud + German, art, math for both + writing for both T-F. Cleaning: 30" before lunch. -- did that, if you count prepping for the crew!! Boys' fitness and mine. Garden: argh!!! need to do some serious stuff. Aim for 15-20", get boys' help with the hand-watering from the can. Focus on moving through RPG module, doing writing prompts + video world prep to meet July goals. good luck today, y'all! Critterfixer Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 Morning. The best that can be said so far is that I can walk. I can't walk for long, though. So I think I'll spend most of today not moving. Today's goals: House: chores Cooking: leftovers Gardens: watering (will have boys do it) School: usual Writing: revisions, drafting, journal Extra: work on a painting--just roughing it in on paper, I don't want to be on my feet much at the moment. Other than that, trying to stay cool, keep the chickens cool, and not hurt myself again. 1 Quote
serendipitous journey Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Oh, honey, I'm so sorry you're hurt. Thank goodness you can walk; it sounds more than bad enough already, being knocked off your feet completely'd really put the sprinkles on the cupcake. Be kind to yourself. Today everybody did fitness (we all did AM + PM to catch up, hurrah) and we dabbled in German & poetry; we also survived rather a lot of jackhammering. I'm so grateful to be getting the work done, and it is also nerve-wracking. And we had a pretty nutritious day, too. Oh yes -- I've done 4 of my 10 "summer camp" RPG writing prompts. I'm all done with good ideas, now I'm on horrid ones. But it's become a get'er done goal. Have to finish by Sunday PM. 1 Quote
