Oh no-Painting help please!!

Recommended Posts

Baby wipes. Seriously.

I've used them on new & old paint on real hardwood and laminate floors. They work like a charm.  It's best if you can get it up while wet, but this works on dry paint, too. You might need to let the wipe "sit" on it for a few moments to help soften it up first if it's super dry.

You could also use a wetted sponge with a scrubby side, not too abrasive, and elbow grease. The water should help loosen it from the planks. Work bit by bit.

Smart Strip by Dumond would work, too. No VOCs and very safe. You'd want to test an area to see if it affects the plank’s coatings. I would probably dab it on with a q-tip, wait a minute or a few more, then wipe off and wipe again with a fresh, wet paper towel. Toss often and use fresh ones. Amazon sells it. The smallest is a quart. Lasts a long time if you reseal it properly.

If it’s an actual drop (not a smear) you might be able to use the tip of a razor blade or even a pin to loosen the edge of the drip and peel it up. I’ve had good luck with that when I didn’t want to put solvents on a finished floor.

We've always gotten paint off of vinyl with water and elbow grease. A microfiber rag or something that would be safe scrubbing a non-stick pan could speed it up. I agree that sometimes you might want to let whatever wet thing you're using sit on it for a minute.
