DYI Vinyl Seam Repair hints

My linoleum flooring in the kitchen and top of the basement stairs is coming up at the seams where two pieces attach - maybe about a foot only along the seam coming up - I did an internet search and found some ideas but before I start this project I thought that I would ask the hive - so any DYI have any hints/experience/etc with Vinyl seam repair?
