bibiche Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 That happens to me too when I get stung. So I don’t know if it’s normal, but at least you’ve got company. Quote

bibiche Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 My last sting was over a week ago and it’s still itchy, though no longer red. I thought it wouldn’t be as bad since I immediately flicked off the stinger and put on baking soda, but nope, still itchy. (Way better than when I can’t put something on it right away though.) Keep an eye on it though and look for signs of infection. I hope it feels better soon! Quote
katilac Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 This sounds like an allergic reaction, particularly the fact that the itching is spreading and miserable (hives). If you can get to urgent care today, they will probably write a scrip for something to help with the hives and itching, and of course check the severity of the reaction. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 You can get cellulitis from bee stings. 1 Quote
Katy Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 I was also going to say it may have turned to cellulitis. My friend’s son got it from a bee sting last month. Get a black sharpie and outline the red area. If it grows or the pain increases you need antibiotics. Friend’s son didn’t tell his (nurse) mom for days and needed IV antibiotics. I think he might be 8. 2 Quote
hippymamato3 Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Sounds like a second reaction (biphasic allergic). Take some Benadryl. Quote
Frances Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 (edited) I got stung twice a few weeks ago and my husband told me to immediately take an allergy pill and put on cortisone cream. I was shocked by how much the combo helped, as I’ve often gotten delayed reactions like the OP. After about an hour or so, I felt nothing and that was it. No delayed reaction at all.
