My night was fabulous

We are visiting family in Ar because family from CA came to visit.  A cousin and her two children, their father is from Albania. The 16 year old son was down stairs telling us stories of his father’s early life and at one point said something about him going to England.  I said, ‘ wait how did he get to England?’  My sisters in law and others made fun of me…good natured ly…making me sound ignorant for asking the question.  I knew the boys dad was upstairs on zoom with other family so I said I was going to ask him.

Oh my.  The rich stories he told me when I ask him that exact question…how did you get  from Albania to England….

Don't ever fear asking the dumb question.  And yes, I had to Google Albania to be sure of the country’s  location.

That's neat and I don't think your question was dumb at all.

Family stories are so great! I love hearing that stuff. Unfortunately my mom did not talk about her past much, as a lot of it was painful for her. My father's family did though.

My in-laws gossip a lot, but don't tell family stories. My husband and I used to try to steer the conversation in that direction but it never went anywhere.

So, I love it when I am with people who will tell old stories and I hope to keep stories alive for my as-yet-hypothetical grandchildren.

It was great. I loved that his 16 year old son was so into it. I told him his dad needs to write a book. He thinks his dad would be arrested. Lol I don’t think he did anything 25 years ago in another country worthy if arrest in the states.  I think it was a lot of fake IDs, lying about his age, etc.
