The recommended textbooks (of which I need to choose one) are Conceptual Chemistry and Modern Chemistry. Anyone prefer one over the other? I am not familiar with either. DS15 used modern chemistry for honors chemistry class years ago and found the textbook easy to read. This is the modern chemistry textbook he used.
