Out of the blue, a old EMS coworker called me last week and said hey, I got offered an opportunity but it’s not really right for me, but it would be perfect for you. Long story short—he put me in touch with the company owner and I signed the contact this morning.

It’s a full time position writing, editing and producing classes for Emergency Medical Services continuing education, which is required for people to renew their certifications, and firefighting classes. It’s a nationally known, well established company and the pay is…very good.  and it’s a work from home job with some weeks traveling a year to conferences and the company base.  It turns out that being at home with my kids right now is really important to me; and i can work anywhere I can take my laptop now. I have a bachelor’s degree in writing and my master’s in curriculum development and instruction/special education, plus I’ve been in the fire/EMS services for 15 years(and grew up in it).  I get to do some live teaching online as well.

And NYS bureau of health asked me to teach a live online CE class tomorrow on autism awareness for first responders.  That is a huge honor. That’s tomorrow night and I’m all nervous—over 700 EMTs/firefighters/law enforcement are signed up.

i just had to share lol. You guys are pretty much my BFFs.

Of course the first three classes they asked me to write objectives and a quiz for(they’ve done some interviews and some other things that I need to edit and add some informations/education) are all things like “RSI of the crashing bariatric burn patient.”  🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Ugh! I sometimes hate the national standards what with their standards, objectives, and follow-on quizzes. I am so thankful that we create most of our CE in-house — much more relevant to us. Speaking of which, I’m clocking out right now to go teach DSI to the latest bunch of new hires.

That's amazing! You're perfect for the job and the job is perfect for you. 

I googled RSI. All I have to say is if you can do that to a crashing bariatric burn patient, you rock!
