Laura Corin Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 I'm confident choosing cool colours but get a bit scared of anything that verges on red. We want to repaint our bathroom, which is tiled in cream/light beige neutrals, with largely white fittings. it has a roll-top bath with maroon sides, however, and a window blind with dusty red accents. Here is the bath - I put the clothes basket in for contrast. And the wall that we want to paint, which is just a small area behind the toilet - everything else is tile. These are my ideas so far, with Capri Rose my favourite. The bathroom is south facing and the mirrors surrounding the window cast extra light into the room: https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/colour-details/soft-cinnebar-1 https://www.dulux.ie/en/colour-details/blush-noisette-1 https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/colour-details/capri-rose Quote
Katy Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Home Depot’s app says that color is Glidden Classic Burgundy. Encyclopedia.com says the closest two Dulux colors are Marrakesh Red (A52) and Murray Red (A70). I’d get paint chips around those colors and try to find a match. I would NOT paint anything else in the room that exact color though, except maybe picture frames and a few accessories. I’d go for the opposite color, Robins Egg Blue (Dulux 90GG 51/211), or maybe a paler version (Dulux Sea Foam A294). Quote

I wasn't hoping to match the colour but go in the direction of a grey-ish red, more like the blind, so in the same range but distinctly different. I like Robins Egg Blue but most of the rest of the house (so far) is painted in colours similar to that. Would a grey-red work? Quote
MEmama Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Our dining room is painted a similar shade on the lower ~1/3 of the walls. Above that is a white chair rail, then a warm beige/sand type color. The combo works well together. A similar shade would pick up the warm tones from your floor tile, and look fresh against the adjacent white wall tile. I’ll try to post a pic when the light is better. 1 Quote
MEmama Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Example. Although it doesn’t sound like you want to go in that direction, so feel free to ignore! 🙂 1 Quote

Katy Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 I agree that looks lovely. My concern would be the feel of the room. Red is exciting and makes food taste better. Generally in a bathroom you want to relax, not get excited. If you don’t want blue I’d do a neutral (cream, ivory, wheat), and use the burgundy as a pop of color. If you have a rose or burgundy color that’s a good nail polish on you, you’ll likely love a color match. 1 Quote
