Choosing a standardized test for homeschooler? Recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Recommendations for specific standardized test, to help assess student progress?  End of 8th, going into 9th in fall.

I looked at Triangle Assessments, and some of their options include:

--Terranova 2

--CAT/6 Complete plus

--Stanford 10

--Woodcock Johnson

Which would be most acceptable for possible public school review of records?  Our state does not require documentation of homeschooling, but am looking at this as a way to help document our progress.

Not to muddy the waters but we do the IOWA.

We do ours through BJU Testing. I know the price can vary by provider so you can check.  I believe they offer the Stanford and CAT as well.

I would honestly probably inquire with the public school about what standardized tests they currently use.

I would also call the school and see what they use.

That said, something like 30% of students in the U.S. take the MAP Growth, so that would be a good option that a school is likely to understand. It is easy to use, online, computer-adaptive, and doesn’t take too long. Homeschoolboss.com to access it as a homeschooler.

My school district doesn’t accept any. They don’t even accept SAT or ACT. However Stanford 10 was easy to get done and we received the results within a few hours of completing the entire battery of tests.

We did the Iowa tests (ITBS for K-8 and ITED for high school).

As far as something the public school would understand, the Woodcock Johnson administered by a professional who is respected in your community may be a good option.
