SDMomof3 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 I just saw that the AMC 10 is now in November and AMC 8 in January. AIME will be in February https://www.maa.org/math-competitions/about-amc/events-calendar?fbclid=IwAR06bKw01DBq_Oi-8-bRTxgAoUgrMLrXf33a613TbOlrAhTd05VHKjlh2hY 2 1 Quote
daijobu Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 My initial thought is this is a good move. With MathCounts chapters in February, it frees things up a bit. Also there was flu season and ski week in February. Working against November is losing scheduling opportunities during Thanksgiving. Quote
Swimmer1112 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 This is great news, this gives kids who qualify for AIME time to prepare. My ds qualify for the first time this year and felt like he had to cram for AIME. 1 Quote
daijobu Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Oh yeah, remember in 2018 AMC 10/12B scores were announced on March 5 and the AIME was on March 6! In 2019 they gave students 4 days. I always felt like every single year the MAA was learning how to do AMC for the very first time, like there was absolutely no institutional memory. Despite the fact they've been doing this since the 1950s. Quote
