Indigo Blue Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 Usually I use anything soap-free, but never straight up oil. I tried it yesterday, and I liked it! I used grape seed oil because I have a big bottle I’m using to build seasoning on a new pan. Next, I used a light daily moisturizer with glycerin, ceramides, squalene, etc. Then another light layer of grape seed oil. No tightness at all. I liken it to the way Ponds Cold Cream makes your skin feel. The best is anything with mineral oil/petrolatum in it, but that makes my face itch. So, I’m trying to get close to that without being super greasy. I may try this with jojoba because it is a bit richer. Quote
fraidycat Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 (edited) I have very dry skin. I use Castor oil to cleanse, honey as a mask, then moisturize with a homemade mixture of jojoba, vitamin e, carrot seed, tamanu, and sea buckthorn oils. It's mostly jojoba with a few drips and drabs of the others. Honestly, I rarely do the cleansing and masking. I use mostly just plain water to wash my face, then my moisturizer oil. The best is anything without mineral oil or petrolatum, IMO. Edited June 8, 2021 by fraidycat 1 Quote
Katy Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 No, I tried a few different methods and they all made me break out. I use Ivory or Dove Sensitive bar soap first (Cetaphil is too drying), even if I use oil as a step before my moisturizer afterwards. 1 Quote
