Good morning!

Pictures of the house happen today. I had a frank conversation with my dad yesterday, and he does want to move in with us. With the falls he has had, he is realizing his limitations. He's still active in many ways, and I hate that our location may take him away from his local church and such. We can't live right in his hometown because dh would have an hour drive to work. This does give us more clarity on searching for a home with good space for him.

  • final staging things for pictures
  • pictures taken
  • pay bills/update checking
  • take some items for donation
  • clean out laundry room(never got to that yesterday)
  • clean out refrigerator
  • clean out pantry
  • relax and watch something

good morning, all! Amy, I'm so glad you were able to sit down with your dad and figure all of that out.

Today I'm planning to:
....coffee
....more Autism reading (for preparing to work with the little boy I mentioned last week) -- good news is, the more I read, the more confident I feel because so far it's all stuff confirming what I was already thinking/planning/the approach I take naturally, so that's good
....FOR REAL declutter the kitchen cabinets -- we do this so often. Things multiply. Time to be ruthless.
....go by Walmart and pick up a photo order, b/c we are dorks and somehow *lost* all copies of my middle son's 2019 graduation announcement....before ever framing one in his grad collage, but now that I got the frames to fix those.....need the thing. So reordered it.
....fix the graduation frames (from 2016, redoing that one, and 2019, never did frame his pics)
....sew -- working on a summer/year round table topper for the dining room
....laundry -- dh has sheets up there, so get those through so I can do real laundry
....write graduation checks/mail cards & thank you cards to my kiddos from school

....anything else I'm forgetting

Hi all!

My dd got married on Saturday. Such a beautiful celebration! We are happy and exhausted.

Now to put our lives back together again. Our niece is staying with us for a few days, so not Real Life quite yet, but so much to do nonetheless.

Today my aim is to put away some of the wedding clutter and load/run the dishwasher twice. Also take my niece shopping downtown.

If anyone has any hilarious or wonderful movie suggestions, we’ll take any you’ve got. Definitely avoiding intensity or violence.

Adding my Congratulations, too, @Harriet Vane

I'm no good with movie ideas for girls/females in general.....with 3 boys, I've spent the last 23+ yrs being slowly but surely having my taste in movies changed over to action packed, fast-paced stuff. I wouldn't have a clue about something cute and funny, at this point!

Cleared the kitchen cabinets (again) and made the space that was needed. Finally parting with the "yea, but....." stuff.

Had a long nap.

Started (going to switch it to the dryer) sheets in the wash earlier.

Figured out dinner.

Eating a quick lunch (salad) then going to the store, come home, do the frames.

I think my biggest accomplishment today so far has been taking a nap.

I should send out some invoices ASAP!

Then I have tons of client work to do.

Done:

  • Laundry in the wee hours.
  • Up with the pup from 6:15am.  Set up a new play area for him in our "jacuzzi room" for when it's too sunny-hot outside.  (Spoiled dog!)
  • Kids up and off to school on time, yay!  With their stuff to hand in, if they remember ....
  • Cleaned out the car somewhat.
  • Various little tasks not worth typing.

To do:

  • Pick up the kids.  Make them do their test study, pup duties, and pick up after themselves.
  • Lots of client work.
  • Bills and such.
  • Laundry, reading, bla bla bla.
  • Evening pup stuff (walk, training, bed).

Today was my kids' last day of "regular school."  Next they have 3 days of finals and then they are 10th graders!  So far my eldest has had a pretty good year, all things considered, while my youngest is, as usual, on the line between having her horse lease extended or canceled.  😕

@Harriet Vane, I thought I'd go ahead and suggest a few. I'm not into comedies, but here are some movies I've really liked recently on Netflix

  • Enola Holmes
  • The Dig
  • Dumplin
  • Fisherman's Friends
  • The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society

I took a break and watched some of The Crown.

I cleaned out the pantry and refrigerator.

I realized today we never took any before pictures, and I wish we had. We've decluttered and cleaned out the entire house.

@Harriet Vane, seconding Scout's congratulations!!

As far as movies go, what streaming services do you have? What are your guidelines for language and such? I noticed you have an 8 year old.

Hi,

Sorry to be so slow—I was out all day with my niece.

Netflix, Amazon, Britbox/Acorn, DisneyPlus

Our little one was a foster child who lived with us for years and who we had planned to adopt. Filled out the paperwork and everything. The county changed course arbitrarily and she is no longer in our home. We mourn her loss daily.

So as far as our standards, we actually enjoy a wide variety and are not overly restrictive. Just didn’t feel in the mood for violence, intensity, suspense this particular night.

Went to the store, got the picture, it turned out well - yay! Need to actually fix the frames up now.

Came home, swapped laundry, DS asked for jeans, need to do that. Actually, tomorrow is fine there, maybe (it's late now).

Made dinner, played Star Dew Valley with the boys, went for a walk/walked the dogs. Going to relax with DH until bedtime.

Made stir fry.

Took Dd to youth group pool party. Hung out with friends at the park during the youth event.

Picked up two things at Whole Foods.

Next up: taking one of Ds’ friends home, then home for us and time to read.

I got my pup's new "martingale" collar and put it on.  It is just barely big enough.  The next size up is arriving tomorrow.  Might have to go through the whole process again.

While this collar is no miracle worker, at least it doesn't seem like a torture device like the "training" [prong] collar I was given by the dog training place.  (I did decide that we're not returning there.  I have another referral to hopefully a better place.)  Today we took about a mile walk and met various folks of all ages.  Making progress, slowly but surely.

I sent out a couple invoices.  I have a lot of work to do, both personal and client.  I think I will try processing many small, less important items so the pile of work doesn't feel so big.

@ScoutTN, I thought your dd was going to be at camp several weeks. I must be remembering something wrong, maybe it's later in the summer.

Dh and I watched a Madam Secretary.

I'm over halfway done cleaning out the laundry room.
