Earthmerlin Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Howdy. We’re planning on seeing a live production of Pericles this summer. Can anyone recommend a tween-friendly book version of it? My daughter’s pretty visual so an illustrated book would be ideal. She likes Shakespeare so text that’s retold but still laced with original lines would also be great. Thanks in advance! Quote
PeterPan Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 It's less common and I haven't seen an illustrated version. Nesbit has a version. https://www.rainbowresource.com/product/023321/Shakespeares-Stories-for-Young-Readers.html? 2 Quote
PeterPan Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 It's not in the Marcia Williams not in Angela McAllister Both would be age approprpiate if you want to do a whole study and hit Pericles at the end. She'd be an expert by that point. Don't forget to try videos on youtube. 1 Quote
Eilonwy Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 We haven’t tried Pericles so I don’t know if it would be suitable, but my 12 year old daughter and I have read through two Shakespeare plays in full, splitting the characters between us and then reading all lines by each of “our” characters. It might be possible to simply read the play, if she likes Shakespeare. 1 Quote
