Simple graduation gift for friend

My best friend's daughter (and DS's good friend) is graduating and I’d like to get her a small gift.

A few years ago someone here suggested (for a different graduate) a jar of M&Ms with a Target gift card, and that went over exceptionally well. The jar of M&Ms part will go over well again this time, but...she’s headed to the Naval Academy so she can’t take anything with her, but I’d like to do *something*. I guess it will have to be consumable? 
 

Any suggestions?

Money is always welcome, so you could do that along with M&M's.

Yeah, when she gets that first time off campus she’s going to want cash to blow.  I’d go for that.

I'm not sure what she'd need at the Naval Academy...  My dd's would enjoy something like a basket of all-natural daily-use type things:  shampoo, soap, lotion, toothpaste, etc.

If you want a gift card rather than money, what about a gift card for an eating place near the academy for when she gets leave?

From what I understand, she’s not allowed to bring anything at all of her own (?!?!). I’d feel kind of weird giving her cash, but a gift card for a restaurant/cafe is a good idea. Is anyone familiar with the area and what’s popular with the students (or whatever they are called)? I don’t know how much freedom they have.
