Soror Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 We finished school a month ago and I've been flailing around like I do every summer. I've gotten some things done but don't feel I'm using my time all that wisely. I teach online in the morning, have breakfast and workout but then it is a hodge podge of a day after that. How do you keep on track to get things done you want to do done? I feel I struggle without a schedule of some sort although I'm loath to have one so I need some other ideas. Quote
HomeAgain Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Can you just make a to-do list and set aside time for some of it each day? Like, after lunch you will look at the list and take care of a few items. I go to a me-centered routine in the summer. I make time for ds, but I get into my own groove of doing things for myself and then work in housework here and there. Quote
Carrie12345 Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 I’m a list maker. I *want my lists to be straight out of Getting Things Done, but I’ve never been able to sustain all the pieces. I basically keep a running master list of all the things, and then I write a daily list each morning or the night before of what I want to get done that day. Personally, I overreach. I know that if I complete my list with plenty of time to spare, I won’t refer back and find something else productive to do, lol. I also like to have a few flexible options to choose from depending on my mood and energy level, so having some extras on there helps with that. The top of my list has my must-dos. So, yesterday was taking the trash out, picking up groceries, and printing some paperwork. Today is getting out to vote and preparing for a meeting that’s later this week. Feeding the dog is always toward the top, too, because he doesn’t give reminders like normal dogs! I put some normal daily stuff on there too, just so I can check it off. Then the rest is stuff that needs to get done, but isn’t tied to a particular day. I don’t use a time schedule unless I’ve got multiple time sensitive things going on, which hasn’t been the case in ages. I tend to put evening things toward the bottom of the list as a visual clue, but that’s as close as I get to a “schedule” when it isn’t really needed. I’ve tried block scheduling as an in-between list and schedule system, but I found even that to be too restrictive for my free spirit. 😂 Quote
SKL Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 I too do better with lists. I really have zero responsibility (for myself) without accountability. (I also tend to keep a pretty busy schedule all year long. But that isn't for everyone.) Quote
