BalletBoy had a concussion a few weeks ago. I thought he was for real having a nervous breakdown before we realized that he had gotten a concussion. He couldn't stop crying for about 24 hours straight - starting about 6 hours post-concussion. He mentioned that he'd hit his head, but he was alone and none of us had any clue that he'd hit it so hard until I put two and two together a few hours into the non-stop crying.

Oh, poor guy. I hope he’s okay now.

He's okay! Once we figured it out and saw the doctor and he went on rest for the rest of the week... he seems fine. But this is good for me to read to watch out for. He's had a rough year with the pandemic and no studio time. His mental health is already not amazing for once - he's usually my extra resilient kid! But it's good to know that this is an extra risk factor. And I'll probably share it with him. It really helped him to know for himself that he'd had a concussion and needed to take it easy on himself.

Oh wow, how scary.  I am glad he is doing better.  Did he hit is heard during ballet?  Is he still able to go to SFB?  I hope that studio time is a boon to his mental health.   Is his studio going to open up soon?

He hit his head going down the basement stairs, lol. Just tripped and smacked into the overhang. And yeah, all is well and normal now! He missed out on some of the fun of his spring break, but he's back at ballet and still headed to SFB. Whew.

I’m in the HBOT for concussion believer camp. 5 head injuries in 3 years and my head was a mess. And cranial sacral. Treat the outside, treat the inside. The effects of your first are subtle and you don’t realize they’re happening. Fatiguing more easily with mental work, slight decrease in balance or speed of movement. My injuries accumulated and I just thought that’s how I was.

If you do HBOT fresh it’s very few sessions, maybe 12-20. I’ve done 52 sigh.

I'm so glad you started this thread, @WildflowerMom.  I remember in the past, there were a few posters here whose kids had multiple concussions (mainly from one sport or another,) and they took it so lightly, like it was no big deal, and that always worried me!

This information is so important!

My BFF is going through this with her daughter that had a concussion almost 6 months ago. I don't want to share too many details, but her mental health sprialed terribly and they have tried a lot of interventions, none of which have helped in a significant way. We pray for them daily as that is how serious the situation is.

No one shared this possibility with them at all. None of the doctors that they have reached out to, centers she has been in, none have acknowledged the concussion could be the cause although my bff is certain.
