The CC here actually has an "honors" college algebra which is the course taken by able college students who place into calculus but only need College Algebra and Statistics, plus a handful of high school kids who need an "algebra" credit to graduate high school, but did algebra too early to get it on a transcript. My kid did that. It was a great course, focused primarily on problem solving and applications until it went online mid-way through the semester, at which point it became the regular Pearson College Algebra, with all the annoying online grading.
