Well I have an adorable Target cat house with the scratchers in the corner of the room I'm in and a cat hasn't been inside of it in ages.  Santa brought it!  So as long as you're prepared for cat disinterest it might be good for some cute pictures.  😻

I read the title as should I get them a House Cat, like their own personal kitty. DH would totally make that argument. 😬

Yeah, Obama is not really a big fan of other cats.  I don't think he would be thrilled with that idea.  He's terrified of all the neighbor cats.

We used to buy those regularly when the holiday ones would go 50% off. I particularly love it when Mamba, the all black cat, adopts the haunted house. Alas, after a year of not going to Target in person, we no longer have any-they eventually self destruct, especially when the 20 lb cat tries to curl up in one.

We also have a build a bear tent that one of the scratcher pads from the cardboard houses fits in well-it's an igloo, and especially works well for the arctic white feline.

I really would like to convince them to use scratching posts instead of chairs and beds for claw sharpening, but so far, despite a number of different types of surfaces in approved scratching posts, I have been unable to dissuade them and have just taken the "assume furniture will be destroyed and primarily acquire furniture from the thrift store" approach.

I gave some gifts in a brown paper shopping bag from target covered with some scrapbook paper (to make it look prettier)

and they said their cat has not stopped sitting in it.

so I’d just go buy some groceries or deodorant or something useful and give the bag to the cat.

I had a great Nutcracker theatre scratching house from Target until my son fell on it. Both of my cats loved it.  I have the sushi one ordered. I think it will be the same size.

There is another cat called Scout ? Not Michelle ?

The only Scout I know is from To Kill a Mockingbird.

I love the name Scout, it was on a list of potential names I had for a girl though I did not get to name her that.

Pictures of the cat named Scout please if it is not a bother.

I named my first dog Scout. ❤️ I love the name, too!

She is named for Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird.  She is an old lady.  She definitely predates Obama.  Scout is 14.  The picture on the bottom is misleading as to how well they get along.  Obama is super mean to Scout.

Yeah, we have a big cat tree like that.  Obama spends a hunk of the day sleeping in it.  Scout never uses it.  My cats do seem to prefer cardboard scratchers, so I thought a smaller cardboard house might be appealing in another room.

ETA:  Okay, Obama's cat tree is not nearly that nice or that big, but it's similar.

I love these. We buy one at Christmas but I didn't know they have so many choices. Our kitty that recently went to the happy hunting grounds liked them.

My neighbors just bought a three-story catio, like this one: https://www.wayfair.com/pet/pdp/jaxpety-outdoor-playpen-axpe1342.html

My cats would die for one of these! If we didn't have so many ferals hanging around, I would grab one of these in a hot second.

After years of not having a cat tree because our Maine Coon jumped for the top, fell and broke his leg, we bought this cat tree last summer. All 5 (now 4) cats love it. I mean seriously love it. The perches are bigger, the platform is big enough to hold more than one, and, at 100 lbs., there was no way for our Maine Coon to pull it over. The downside are the bits of yarn from the carpeting that come out when they use it as a scratcher.

To answer the original question, the answer is yes. Do it! My cats love their cardboard scratchers and will sleep on the ones that aren't even designed to be slept on. I may just have to grab one of these clearance ones. The double decker is calling my name.
