Mrs Tiggywinkle Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 My (almost) 9 year old is pretty depressed. There isn’t a whole lot I can do for the causes of her depression(mostly Covid-changes related along with being smack dab between two intense brothers with special needs). Her dad is working tomorrow night and I’m sending her brothers to grandma’s house for the night. I need a good movie for a mom-daughter movie night. She is not overly sensitive, but I avoid violence and s$x in movies at her age. Sad is okay. We don’t watch a ton of movies, but her favorite books are the Little House series, Caddie Woodlawn, anything Kate DiCamillo, the Judy Moody series(she’s seen that movie) and Charlotte’s Web. She doesn’t like fantasy except Trollhunters. She’s not a huge fan of movies made from her favorite books, because it ruins it for her. We have Amazon prime, Disney+ and Netflix. I don’t mind paying for a premium movie on Amazon, either. Suggestions? Quote

Ali in OR Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 My thoughts go to our DVD collection, so not sure if any of this is available on your sources, but we all like Ramona and Beezus and Enchanted. Quote

MercyA Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 (edited) Secret Life of Pets and Secret Life of Pets 2 (very funny) Trolls (Dreamworks) Babe (especially if she loves Charlotte's Web) Annie (we like the one with Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan) Parent Trap (I've only seen the Haley Mills one) Dreamer (especially if she is a horse lover) Ramona and Beezus (one sad part involving a pet passing away) Hope she feels better soon! I grew up watching the Hayley Mills version...but I'll concede that the LL version is pretty good. We watch it often here (and my kids are teens). Quote
Mrs Tiggywinkle Posted May 1, 2021 Author Posted May 1, 2021 I’d forgotten half of these movies!! Rigoletto was one of my favorites as a young teen. And I love both version of the Parent Trap. Quote

Pretty sure my mom belonged to some sort of Family Movie club where wholesome movies were sent to us periodically. 😛 Rigoletto was one of them. 1 Quote

They actually had really decent production quality and acting. There are several movies I wish I could find. Quote
