MeaganS Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Dh has started tossing and turning a lot and it's waking me up multiple times a night. We think the biggest issue is our bedframe which has a little sway to it. We currently have a metal bedframe, but aren't fans. Do any of you recommend a bedframe that doesn't move at all? 1 Quote

We have a platform bed that is great for stability. Also the memory foam mattress does not move when one person moves. The bed we had before.....I basically was rolling down the center toward dh all night. LOL 2 Quote

LOL Yeah, we have a memory foam bed that shouldn't transfer like that, but the wobbly bed frame makes that obsolete. Honestly I'm probably putting the mattress on the floor until I can find one. Do you know what platform bed you have? Quote
mommyoffive Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 I am looking for new furniture too, so I am hanging out here for recs. Links please everyone on what you have and like. And for a mattress. Quote

sweet2ndchance Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 I second the platform bed for stability. No sway or movement and no bed noise during adult playtime activities lol. I built ours from this plan back before lumber prices went through the roof. It cost about $100 in materials when I did this project last fall I think it was. @mommyoffiveOur mattress is a Sealy Posturepedic and I seriously love that mattress. I have severe scoliosis and this has been the first mattress in a long time that actually relieves the pain in my back when I lay down. Dh and I both are on the heavy side and most mattresses have started to sag within a few months. This one is still perfect, just like the day we got it. 1 Quote
kbutton Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Agreeing on the platform. We have a Sleep Number bed. I assume you can get a platform without having one of their beds. Someone might chime in that they are squeaky--their old ones were terribly noisy, but they are totally different now. Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 We have a platform bed from Wayfair that is pretty solid. It was also quite economical, and the only one I could find without a headboard, which was a requirement due to a window and two wall lamps spaced for a narrower bed than ours. I think it was the Newport Platform Bed. It has shorttish black legs, and a roll of heavy slats supporting the mattress or box spring. Nice feature was that the legs vanished in the shadow of the covers, so the bed looks almost like it's floating in the room. We had to get a bucky board to use instead of a box spring because the box spring combined with the new thick mattress made the bed too high for me to get into without hopping, which would be annoying. It occurs to me that the bucky board might contribute to the solid feel of the bed. Except for that one time when there was an earthquake, LOL. I literally half woke up and thought, "Wow, DH must have gotten up and stood by the bed and shook it as hard as he could to make me think there was an earthquake." And then fully awoke, realized, "Expletive, this IS an earthquake!" It was pretty funny in retrospect. At the time, we were all checking to see whether the propane tank had rolled down the hill. Not super calm. Quote

Our hybrid spring-memory foam mattress goes straight on the slats of the platform base. https://www.evesleep.co.uk/products/the-spindle-bed-frame https://www.evesleep.co.uk/products/the-premium-hybrid-mattress Quote

I forgot to add that the platform bed we ordered has no headboard. I bought one an upholstered one to add to ours and it looks very nice. 1 Quote

So how did you attach the headboard to the platform bed? And which headboard did you get? That is the exact kind I want. Edited April 27, 2021 by mommyoffive Quote

Looks black. Dh screwed it into the platform frame. Very sturdy. Does not make noise. LOL 1 Quote

Yes, I made it exactly like the pictures on Ana White's website. The only changes I made were to add more support legs underneath the middle of the bed. It needs another coat or two of paint as I made this bed quickly (just over a day) and I missed a few spots lol. When we get around to installing the flooring in our room, I will probably repaint the bedframe at the same time. 1 Quote
