Best science program for kid (and mom) who hates hands-on?

DS is 11.5. Just not into science at all. History is more his bag. He does NOT like doing hands-on activities. He likes interesting reading, and pictures. But not computer curriculum.

Definitely prefer a non religious curriculum. Is there anything out there that is really easy to teach, interesting reading, and a DVD that shows the experiments being done? I think Sonlight has such DVD's, but I'm wondering if there is any other science curriculum similar.

I second PH. My 11 and 9 yr old read the section, take notes and answer the questions. Then they complete the workbook pages.

They do the experiments themselves because they want to. It doesn't in any way involve mom because she just couldn't be bothered. I did get them a kit at their request to supplement PH.
